2. SOUNDBITE (English) Alicia Keys, recording artist/Broadway producer:
“It's very emotional. It's such a homecoming. It's such a beautiful experience. My mother moved from Toledo, Ohio to New York City to follow her dream. She's the quintessential New York story and that's what ‘Hell's Kitchen’ is. It is about growing up and being raised in New York and the difficulties there, and this love story between a mother and a daughter. So, because I understand a love story like that, it's really powerful and more emotional than I've ever felt.”

“Tonight's performance is so crazy. I am so excited to be able to perform with the cast of ‘Hell's Kitchen.’ We got some special surprises and it's going to be outrageous.”

“They are. I love that they're here. Can you believe it? So special.”
(Reporter: “Yeah. How are they feeling about it?”)
“They're good. I think they - I'm gearing them up. I'm like, this might be a long show, so let's go. We got to have all that energy.”

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Jessica Stone, theater director - on the record-setting seven women have been nominated for direction:
“I think it's amazing. And the next is that it won't be such a surprise that a woman is a director - we're just directors. But I think it's really awesome. I'm very proud to be a part of this change.”

7. SOUNDBITE (English) Will Butler, recording artist - on teaching actors to play bass:
“I mean, I wasn't - at the beginning, I was naively very confident that I'd be fine. I was just like, any idiot can play in a band like, I'm fine. And I knew Will Brill particularly was a fantastic dancer, so I knew he could be musical. No, it was more work - like, I realized I was asking more work of the actors than I thought I was. And they did it. They did it beautifully. They, like, came through and it's very meaningful.”

(Reporter: “I mean, David Byrne is here tonight. I mean, he's able to turn it around.”)
“No, I'm, I'm competing for a Tony with David Byrne and Fatboy Slim. That's very dream logic.”

“He is the man - I'm sorry. There is no one like George C. Wolfe. We are so lucky to be in a time in theater where he is with us, and doing such brilliant work. Some of the most profound thoughts I've ever heard out of anybody have come out of George Wolfe’s mouth. I'm excited. Very excited.”
