What impresses me is how so many gymnasts, Alicia being one of them, can compose themselves so quickly after a fall, especially on beam, and get right back up and complete the routine well. I've seen some gymnasts who get really rattled (and I'm sure I'd be, too!) and it affects the rest of their routine, and that's understandable, but I love watching the ones who can move on and finish well. Falling stinks, but it's what you do afterward that's most important - in gymnastics and in life.

No she wasn't. In case you didn't bother watching the competition, you would have noticed that Liukin and Johnson both stepped out of bounds during their floor routines. China assembled one of the best team ever, the only other teams that I would compare them to was Russia in 2000 or the Romanians in 2004. China had a full point advantage over the USA.Even if nobody fell, China still would've walked out of there with the gold medal had every one hit their routines. She's not the sole reason we got silver. Is she probably the biggest factor as to why? Yeah, you could argue that. But she isn't the sole factor for us getting silver.

I do not blame Alicia for the fall. I recall that she had to wait an extended time to mount the beam and while waiting she was motioning to move the springboard over. I think she was second guessing herself with the placement of the board due to the long wait. I feel the mount mistake was not mental- rather technical due to her possibly resetting the springboard. We need to give her credit for getting it together to finish the routine.
