Sigourney Weaver was 74 years old just a few days ago. She’s 36 years old in this interview, more than half her lifetime ago and yet the vid, her gorgeous fresh faced makeup, the outfit looks timeless and as fresh as the day I saw it in the mid ‘80s. She looked so stunning here, Sean Young (Bladerunner) was being seriously challenged for the title of most gorgeous Sci-fi actress as far as my raging hormones were concerned 😂 it’s bizarre how we perceive time as we get older, so near yet so far gone.

Kennedy needs to wind her leather neck in an go and watch the Alien films, Terminator 1and 2.Halloween.Even way back to Doris Day in Calamity Jane to name a few.Nobody even questioned the plausibility of a female lead in an action movie back then because it felt natural and not forced like modern efforts that try to ram an agenda down people's throats in a clumsy manner.SW is pure class.

A good insight in to why Ripley was so very cool because Sigourney depicted her not only as unwilling but having to dig very, very deep to do what she did and even though I was a boy who loved Arnie and Sly, she helped me relate to the seeming impossibility of fighting such incredible horror. She was the perfect choice to play the first female badass I'd ever seen on film. A mix of beautiful feminity mixed with an underlying masculine, authoritative energy that commanded respect when she spoke. Still couldn't believe the studio did not want to pay her 1 million dollars for Aliens considering how much they knew they would make off this sequel simply off the back of the original which did HUGE business but that was the 80's. People like to wax lyrical on how great the 80's was but the reality for many was that it was not quite as amazing as people say, particularly if you were a woman or a minority
@Celisar1

Ah, the not so latent sexism of describing authoritative energy to males…. Funny that some people don’t even see how prejudiced they are.
@A-small-amount-of-peas
9 ай бұрын
@@Celisar1 I meant more in the voice. It's harder for women to sound authorative as their voice tends to be on the higher side of the octave scale and it's harder to command respect Famously Margaret Thatcher learned to speak more slowly and at a lower octave. I find it funnier when someone loves to label someone as prejudiced immediately without thinking it through. It's a trait that seems very prevalent today in today's "trial by social media" society
@foljs5858

@Celisar1 Given than for millenia of history males took the most authoritative decisions, it's not "sexist", it's just real. "But women were suppressed all that time!", you say?
