Yeah, I always say that if you want to get something THAT cheap, get a quartz because there are very few moving parts compared to a mechanical. The simplistic design of a quartz movement means that even the crappiest quartz watches will last for years. I once got a quartz watch to use as a beater and it WAS a beater for sure! We're talking crappy bracelet and three subdials that were glued on to the face. I think that it cost me $5 on eBay about 10 years ago. Well, the blasted thing still works! LOL EDIT: I pronounce this brand as "F'n Gene" which I think is funny and it also works.

The Tevise t801a cost just a little more but the quality looks better. Mine has a great looking black sunburst dial. Enjoyed the review, especially the depth test.

Excellent review. And yes, for $15 it is just fine. The fact it was water tested is remarkable enough. Twist back also will make it easy to change batteries.

Just started watching ,very similar to my £I5 Tevise with worse quality control ,looks second hand and cyclops is pretty good on mine .No way it will survive water and says nothing on dial which is a clue .I'm gonna be super impressed if survives I metre lol

I bought a FNGeen Rolex Hulk homage about two weeks ago during a sale. It was an automatic. It went belly up yesterday. Only $8 USD, so not a huge loss.

If the main issue is the quality control, it's basically a little bit like playing the lottery, right? I got another FNGEEN for a similar price (same movement I assume) without fingerprints or scratches. Maybe I'll risk it again. They also sell a version of this one on a NATO, would you recommend that instead of the bracelet?

Fun video! I'd agree with some of the other commenters that the Tevise should be something of an upgrade for little additional outlay. That said, I find that automatic watches in this rock bottom price range are really not that nice to wear or have (they're basically fun toys or experiments, unless you're truly, truly strapped for money, of course), so I steer clear of them completely these days. I mean, you can buy a Loreo diver for what $50 or so, and the additional quality so justifies the extra expense.

Why cheap? - The back cover is not threaded. .- There is no crown lock. - The movement is an automatic version of the "standard chinese movement" with poor workmanship (C13767). - Dirty movement, no lubrication, wobbling balance staff. - Glued dial. - Inaccurate cyclop. - Etc.

Update: I got mine (blue one). The only thing that's a bit scratched is the bezel. The bezel action itself is okay (seems to be better than on your watch), one of the lume dots isn't perfectly complete, the rest is pretty much fine. Even the movement is clean. Washing doesn't hurt the watch. Lume is exaclty as pathetic, no surprise there. As you are a watch modding channel, any ideas for a replacement bezel if that's possible? Ideally also cheap from Aliexpress, lol. Also, because I noticed: The back itself is certainly stainless steel, the rest of the case isn't. No idea why it says "all stainless steel" instead of "stainless steel back" like other watches.

I also have this watch from Aliexpress. Except for the misplaced date magnifier, I was initially thrilled. Unfortunately, the case is not made of stainless steel, after a while the chrome wears off and the golden alloy comes through. Probably brass. Really cheap quality. But the movement runs very precisely with + 2 sec/day. Better invest a few dollars more and buy a real 20 ATM submersible hommage like an Invicta Pro diver.

Ok the depth test blew me away but Tevise is still worth the extra few quid for a watch without the damaged case and better quality control ,prob from the same factory by look of it

Blow me away if i'm honest, thing is on the surface it's very poor but under it. There is promise. Going to do an improvements video on this watch. See if i can get it to run how it should and hopefully look better too ;)

I would rather eat 2 or 3 times pizza in a restaurant (when they open), instead of this one. I like your review though! The main issue that I have with these exact movements in these watches is that I have to wind them manually, which super annoys me, the rotor is for decoration only. I have similar watches and I don't wear them, were bought years ago, when I was new. This particular watch even has crown guards that make it harder for you to manually wind... On one of my watches with similar movement, I even filed the crown guards, for better grip of the crown, it gets difficult to wind everyday with them.

your bezel certainly looks like shit, because you left the protective film on there. if you remove it, the bezel looks pretty pristine and it also is very scratch resistant, as is the crystal. i wear this watch for about two years now, almost every day, and i only have two things to complain about: - the "automatic" part is useless, as the rotor is much too light and will not wind the watch to any usable degree. - the crown is made from some very shitty material and is the only thing that shows wear. for everything else, my model looks way better than the one you showed in the video. it did not have (and still does not) any scratches, bends or even fingerprints on the movement. even up close, it looks and feels like a $500 watch, not like a $25 one.
