Ian. Great instructional videos. You have to get you a “ feathering shaft tool”. Aligns cost about $20 but saves time and frustration. It’s a wrench that slips over the shaft. It has a one way bearing and holds the shaft while you tighten or loosen the end bolts.

Thanks Paul, I will have to look for that!! I can see how it would save all the hassle of tightening and undoing those pesky feathering shaft bolts!! Thanks for the tip and watching and commenting 😀👍

It is looking good yes those feathering shaft bolts are and will continue to be a pesky situation. I usually just buy another along with the kit and keep the one that came with the kit as a spare. Pain snakingly as it is tedious although well worth it in the completed product every nut and bolt gets installed and removed at least 2 times, then when I'm happy with it I'll apply the lok tight. All of the real fun on the build is up coming, there is so much to do, I am glad to see a build video from you. your choppers fly well and true. I do every thing mechanically in the build so there is no tail trim right pitch settings to be adjusted in the gyro and or tx. And that is where I am with this new used atom. if mechanically done well it is just your personal settings you like to fly with. 6 deg on the roll and personal on the collective, for example. "micro beast". Ikon is different it will spoil you in ways. Any way, I love the video looking forward to # 2. 😁🤠

When I tried to buy an Ikon I couldn't get one in the UK, so settled for a Microbeast, I've always tried to set the swash and tail linkages to 90 degrees!! Mechanically and as you know it can be a real pain in the arse lol Thanks for watching and commenting Jason 😀👍

That was fascinating Ian, and I thought all you had to do was tighten a few screws 🤔 The sheet tip was excellent, spending time on all fours with a magnet can be frustrating especially when the item your looking for isn't magnetic 😁

Supurb Brother Ian, shows how very critical work begins BEFORE any building; and I imagine that not doing just one of those things like re-greasing components before use, could cause an expensive failure during initial flights. Also cool to see your awesome preparation and well organized work space. I like the blanket on the floor, this morning my helicopter is down because I lost a tiny rotor shaft bearing in my living space, searched EVERYWHERE, LOL!

Hi Ian … this video is really exciting .. such a good idea to show the whole kit build process sharing your experience.. The quality of these components looks fantastic.. so good to see the close ups of the rota he’d and main shaft … will definitely get into this when i finally retire !!! Great film .. fascinating !!! Thanks Michael

This is epic Ian😃! Some good tips you are giving in this upload. It really is a beautiful machine. I hope that i can follow soon and start my first build. So you have to clean each bolt and screw with alcohol? I wasn't expecting that, cause they are new from the factory. So, the question is why? Is it to remove some particles etc or are they greasy? That white sheet on the floor is gold😄! Thanks for this upload Ian!! I will wait for part 2, hope it's soon.😃👍

The reason for cleaning the screws Adnan is to get rid of the liquid they use when the screws are machined!! After soaking them in alcohol and wiping them with a clean rag you see the oily residue come off them!! If left this can stop the threadlock from working!! Thanks for watching and commenting 😀👍

Hi :) you probably remember me, i was bugging you with questions about T-Rex 470L and T-Rex 500X. So i wanted to say, i finally made a choice and ordered a 500X few days ago! The parcel should come soon :) mentally preparing for the struggle from all that routine of building lol.

@@IansRCExploits Yes i decided that for the first kit it would be more enjoyable, though i still want 470L too :) As i see, in Align kits rotor head and tail come assembled but not loctited, so i wonder if disassembling them fully makes sense? Why can't just remove the screw from the shaft, loctite it and put back? Or there is risk that in factory it could be assembled wrong?
@IansRCExploits
7 ай бұрын
No sadly they need to be taken apart, the screws need to be decreased and then assembled and greased and threadlocked, I think I showed in my video the correct way to assemble the rotor head 😀👍

Hi Ian, do you lubricate your one way bearings and if so is atf the way to go?

Well David I've just followed the build instructions and used what Align provided in the way of grease!! I've built 5 Trex Helies and have never had an issue with the one way bearings at all 😀👍
