I realized that I make all these videos, but I sort of remain faceless on this channel. Sure I am in my own videos a lot of the time, but nobody really knows me. Until now.
I decided to sit down and introduce myself, talking about who I am, how I got here and why the heck such an old guy wants to be make KZitem videos?
For a long time I used to want to work in Hollywood, that didn't pan out the way one would hope. Real life sets in and ones goals shift to something else. Sadly mine never shifted away from not wanting to work in a corporate job.
In short, even at this age, I never quite figured out what I want to do when I grow up. Once kids came along, that became my focus. I have always enjoyed making videos, but it has only been in the fairly recent past where I thought, documenting our trips and vacations would be fun.
It was really this past year, when I did a Route 66 drive with my older son, where I decided to make a series of videos highlighting our trip. That got me thinking about how much we actually do as a family and how fun it would be to make entertaining home movies that I would also feel comfortable sharing with the public.
It's a delicate balance of being in the moment, and also capturing these events in fun ways and also be a little informative. My kids get a kick out of it, and I have a great time.
We pay for all these trips ourselves, I shoot and edit everything myself. We are not sponsored in any way.
I hope you enjoy learning a little more about the man behind the camera. Please comment below with any other questions you might have. Also, please check out my back catalog of videos to see some of our past trips. I have a full Route 66 series from 2021, where we went from Santa Monica, CA to St. Louis, MO, and in the process of putting together episodes that "finish the route" from Joplin, MO all the way to Chicago, plus a whole lot of other videos from day trips to spring breaks.
