@Karl with a K I was wondering where all of this John Deere junk commenting came from. We have 13 John Deeres. A 1066 ih, and a 1486. The newest Jd is 7r350. Oldest being a 1950. 60. I pull with a 1969 4520. None of these tractors have yet to let us down , year after year 5 and 6 bottom mold board plows, three row chopper till we got a self propell, offset disk. We farm close to 670 acres ,. We have one Massey tractor. Now that is kind of a POS . The Deeres not,. They have been powerhouses and raised 4 families maybe you have lemons. But to get on here and just tell a man his tractors are junk,. Maybe a lot of that is your opinion,. They still turn alot of dirt and chop alot of corn

Chris, I may be out of line with my suggestions below and overstepping? If so, please accept my apologies. You need to ask your father these difficult questions: is the farm failing financially and if he is going to lose the farm? Is your father pushing you away for that reason? Is his pride getting in the way? Is your father suffering from deep depression? If you signed the mortgage for the robot on behalf of the farm: which tells most people the farm is not in good financial condition, you have an invested interest in the farm with your family and you may be in a limited partnership (robot only) with the farm? Moreover, you own the milking robot and not the farm if you signed the mortgage first. Hire an attorney and go to court to dissolve your limited farm partnership; ask the court to sell the farm assets and payoff the robot so you can move on with your business interests; such as buying another farm. The court may also force your father to buy out your interest in the robot if your father does have the resources to pay for it. It sounds like your father may be using the milking robot to control your business success and holding you back? The court could also force your father to turn the farm over to you; if you wanted it? The problem with your father's farm; it has little growth opportunities for the future due to limited farm land available in your area. This may also be another reason why your father is pushing you away knowing you would have far more future success if you purchased a farm in a farming area that will allow future growth? It is possible that your father feels guilty by holding you back on his little farm and the reasons why he is acting in this way with trying to push you away? Sometimes the love between a parent and adult child will make some family members or parents appear to act crazy and without logic, yet they are trying to act in the best interest of the adult child; just in a crazy way? The only thing that is clear; your father is pushing you away and not telling you why? Keep in mind, he even may not know why and he may not being truthful with himself as well?

My sheep dogs being by my side wherever I went. I changed jobs, moved back to the countryside, bought a Border Collie pup and that early part of my life became history and good memories. I’ve heard of this happening on a couple occasions in my area. My family has farmed here for almost 200 years now and not one generation has been discouraged from taking over nor charged to purchase the farm. My Great Grandfather, Grandfather and now Father all “retired” at 62 from the day to day operation and simply continued to receive a salary. I currently pay my Grandfather and Father a predetermined amount monthly and will until the day they have all passed away. This will extend to when they and my mom and Grandmother are gone as well. Every generation has been expected yo not only keep the farm together but grow it larger and more sustainable for the next generation. The situation your in is extremely rare and unfortunate. It’s hard to understand the mentality of people like your father, it takes a special kind of fool to want their life’s work to dissolve when they are gone.

The family has no land ownership, it's leased land, hard to build equity. The land that surrounds the leased farm is incredibly expensive as residential property. Years ago the town supported many farms, sadly they are all gone and have been replaced by million $ homes on small lots. Couple that with dairy farms don't make money. I wish Chris all the best.

Very sorry to hear of this big setback. For what it's worth, a man with your skills and work ethic will find success. Advice from an old guy: be careful to have solid, long-term, foundation for your next venture. Watching you speak of Duffy Ag, the basic concept seemed flawed to me; being dependent on your father's farm, then going your own way on how to do things. Best of Luck to you. Hope you find time to make videos. I really enjoy watching -

There are alot of former dairy farms in northeastern Pa. that aren"t reguarly worked. There may be some rental possibilities to start out on. At least you have Delaval.

Been watching since before the initial daily vids, and I think everyone could tell that it seemed like your father was fighting you on everything. Hopefully you can get out to the Midwest, where everyone loves and supports farmers. Help like you is HARD to find. I know my uncle would KILL for help like you. You'll land on your feet, keep your options open, wishing you the best of luck. Duffy Ag lives on!

Everything you said sounds so familiar. Exactly how our family farm turned out. Dad made promises and then reneged on all of them. The biggest advice I would give all farmers is pay your kids for the work they do on the farm, don't expect them to work for free, otherwise expect a lot of hurt feelings.

If it was my dad I'd be concerned about sabotage, damage and towing. An awful lot of older people very set in their ways took some minor but crucial brain damage from Covid. It seems to have hit doctors the worst since 95% of their job is wrote-gut-learning. There ARE legal means by which to move your credit mass of the robot off to an entity that can be operated separately from yourself legally since there's a provable hostility in the shared debt. Would definitely look into getting that adjusted.

Sad to see this happen to you Chris. I only see the videos but as a farm equipment salesman I have seen this happen to families. Even with my in-laws. Hold your head up and sometimes when one door closes another opens. The best thing you can do is be more successful than your father. I don’t understand people like that. Your work ethic is second to none. You will be successful I am sure.

Not done yet, been through family problems on the farm, now retired.Hard to work with relatives. My advice is to get everything on paper and i mean everthing. You are a hard worker one thing young farmers do is try a little custom work and pick up some land as you go along.Clarke farms is doing that and seems to be moving ahead.I enjoy your videos.

Chris, my heart is breaking for you. You are a hard-working ambitious young man, and the farm will miss you when you leave. Really surprised that your dad treats you this way. Almost sounds to me like he is quitting and giving up by not setting you up to run the farm in the future. Please keep the content coming if you are up to it. Your loyal fans will watch anything that you produce. Perhaps cooking with Duffy?

I miss farming real bad and I am a big fan of the Classic JD Tractors and other equipment ….. I can’t farm anymore because I got hurt… I enjoy watching all you do… Only advice I can say is speak with Dad about getting off the loan…if that doesn’t work speak with the bank…If that doesn’t work, go to the alternative…It’s a shame the situation is what it is but it seems like it won’t change unless you change it… Do what you have to do to protect your interests . Start over if that’s what it takes etc… we’re all here to keep supporting whatever you decide….👍👍👍👍

I'm Keith, new to your channel last year and I'm a fifth generation farmer in Iowa. I hope whatever is going on between you and your dad can be fixed, I really do. My dad and one brother had farmed together full time since 1979. I have been wanting to farm for awhile but our farm wasn't big enough to support 3 people operating it therefore I had always had a full time job but helped for 2 weeks every spring and fall. 2 years ago on the 21st of July my dad and uncle were unloading corn out of one of our grain bins, my dad went inside with his harness fully attached but he never made it out..... now I farm full time with my uncle and it can definitely be a struggle sometimes. He is not the best teacher, his way of communicating is almost non existent, gets mad if I make a mistake , narrow minded but the hardest part for me is he is not my dad. I looked forward to the day I got to farm with my dad officially but never got the chance...now I'm stuck with my uncle but at least I can still continue my Father's work. Hopefully things work out for you in farming, you are a damn good farmer! I will keep you in my prayers,

I had the exact same problem 40 years ago. By the mid 1980s, I never spoke to my father again. I invested in the farm and worked the 16 hour days. For him he only wanted to see me fail and gloated when back at the time I did. After that I spent my life working in a factory and I enjoyed it. Duffy, you are no failure. Anyone who works hard, and has a good entrepreneurial spirit like you do will have nature , at some point return a big success to you. I once was there, and I know what its like. I wish you much success and happiness in the future.

Not sure if you read books, but Harvard Business School published a book years ago called, “Succeeding Generations: Realizing the Dream of Families in Business”, probably be good to read it and gift it to your father afterwards, or get two copies. Is about 340 pages, it can be read in a weekend if you put your head into it.
