Always loved Agnes Moorehead. But, I think my favorite performance of hers was as the hermit in the "Twilight Zone" episode "The Invaders". She never spoke a single word, but you still felt her fear. Agnes was wonderful in everything she did, especially as the sage in technicolor makeup on "Bewitched".
@danielhetue6968

Respectfully, I watched The Invaders and I never did liked that episode along with seasons 1 and 2 of the twilight zone since it only had one dialogue coming from that invader robot towards the end of the episode. The episode was also creepy and perplexing too. Still hats off to Agnes on her performance, nonetheless.

Moorehead is of course best remembered for her superbly campy portrayal of Endora on ‘Bewitched’ (hey, that’s the power and reach of television + 50 years of global syndication/reruns). But most don’t know that she was one of the greatest character actresses in Hollywood history, particularly via her high profile collaborations with Orson Wells, who considered her the greatest actress ever. She had a varied and successful career, to say the least. Another fun bit of trivia: she and Debbie Reynolds were best pals. 😀 That’s pretty cool.

@ Jonathon Keiren... Find her radio performance of "Wrong Number". It will knock your socks off. Also, her performance on Twilight Zone. Both " one woman" shows. Although she has been said to be a lesbian, in fact, she was not. She had "men friends", was once married, but her demeanor promoted people to believe she was gay.

Just read a book that Debbie co-wrote.. telling about some of the people in Hollywood (who was nice / who wasn't) she said that Agness Moorehead was one of her best friends and that she was one of the best friends anyone could ever have. She was so nice. I didn't know she was a farmer. Heard her say that on a talk show.

Shame on you and everybody else who is so obsessed with that shit, both are now deceased and may both RIP.

Actors from the New England area (although Moorehead grew up in the Midwest) spoke with Boston Brahmin accents, as that accent was considered American Posh, the speech of wealthy, sophisticated Americans. It was after World War II that the more midwestern Standard American English became the favored accent of the 1%.

@patriciaschuman4205

Yes, I was 10 years old when this ran and had already fallen in love with musicals due to my parents extensive record collection. (They had been lucky enough to see Julie Andrews/Richard Burton/Robert Goulet in the original cast production of Camelot!). So, this was 'must watch' TV at our house, but it was pretty clear from the beginning that it was facing an uphill battle for ratings. At that time, ABC was pretty much considered the 'poor cousin' network, NBC and CBS had been established far earlier and were seen as much more prestigious. But sometimes that led to ABC trying 'new things' like this show (and trying a 'gothic' soap opera called 'Dark Shadows'-another one of my childhood favorites!)

We have explained this before, but this watermark is on the video because this copy of the footage is catalogued in our archival library. We do not need to share these videos, as we have the full episodes archived in our library, but we choose to share excerpts for educational and historical documentation purposes, putting a watermark on it so the footage is not lifted from this site and shared elsewhere. If, however, the presence of the watermark detracts too greatly from the video, we can remove these videos and decline to share any more footage from this show, which would not affect us at all.
