Yes! I am a lion king fanatic and honestly I missed the boat on this movie so I kept saying the lion king was number one. When this movie came on HBO and I finished watching I started crying. This movie is on par with the lion king. I will always have a place for the lion king since that was the first movie I watched as a kid so that will always be number one but prince of egypt is right next to it.
@394seed5

Abel R.E. I personally agree with you on this movie being beyond Lion King’s level, but I think, not in terms of fame and legacy (Lion King outranks Prince of Egypt because I believe it’s quite underrated) but in terms of the movie’s overall message, theme and exposure to dark history or a “everything is not good magic” kind of deal (Hunchback of Notre Dame did also have this but in my personal opinion, Prince of Egypt is better than Hunchback of Notre Dame). I personally think that religion is a unique theme to use in animation, but with something so sensitive and somehting that a lot of people in this Earth deem valuable, Freamworks managed to execute the theme throughout the movie so damn good that I believe any Christian - *ANYONE* would tear up a little, feel this surge of faith suddenly frenzying inside your veins, and have a faith restored moment within themselves.

Not only is this movie and EVERY SINGLE DAMN SONG so brilliantly written and so moving and compelling, this song is ESPECIALLY brilliant because how it inverts the typical 'I Want' song in musical theatre terms. That's one of the biggest faults of modern animated musicals. Using songs to not just keep kids entertained and distracted, but as a plot device to speed up the story. It's okay here and there, but when most of the story's plot is being carried by songs (as many animated musicals tend to feature), it all but destroys the integrity of the character development and the plot itself. I am so, so, so thankful for the expert way this film was created and executed.

What sticks out to me is how Moses had to humble himself first. He asked God “Who am I?” Because he realized he was truly nothing compared to the night of God. It was then when he had a broken heart and contrite spirit that God shaped him into the man he was supposed to be and used him as a wonderful tool.

Just like Moses, he tried and tried to convince himself that this is his life, where he is meant to be & yet it wasn’t…he knew he was called for somewhere else something more, that change was coming. I sang this song today and I KNOW that change is coming for me again….

I wish DreamWorks world do another story from the Bible they are really good at depicting what happened even the art is still amazing till this day. Definitely make the bible more interesting than reading so and so beget this son and her daughters and they beget 20 other random names. Than he smighted so and so. Yeah watching this it's hard to lose interest they really know how to get you to relate with the characters they put a face to it. And it allows you to see what happened instead of trying to make sense of it all. The bible is like reading something someone wrote on acid it's hard to even imagine or comprehend.

Yeah the Bible has some amazing stories that people should learn from (even if they don’t believe in the religion) but it’s a slog to read unless it’s a more modern translation. And then you risk having meanings change which unsurprisingly happens when a book has been translated so much from so many languages

Whether you believe in the Biblical workings of Moses, he was a real person. When you look at Egypt's Middle Kingdom they actually have temples and statues dedicated to the Pharaoh Ramses. There's also so much history behind the person Moses, whether you happen to believe in the miracles he performed or his connection to God, this guy had a really interesting life. (If you're really interested, a great place to start is seeing some of the episodes the History Channel has had on him).

THIS IS ONE OF THE UNDERRATED MOVIES OF ALL TIME. I still love this movie's soundtracks, and in my opinion, they are more meaningful, moving, and catchy than those of the Disney's.

Happy this isn't labeled disney or we would not be able to comment on it. And I love the way the song is written! The graceful beautiful words makes it even more attractive and fits the kind of character who is singing it.

Loved this movie as a kid and this specific song is forever in my memory. It just makes me cry. I don't really have a home. So i dream of my heavenly home...

If someone makes a live action remake of this film and it’s just as good as the 2D version, it would blow last five years of filmmaking out of the water.

I watched it yesterday too on Netflix hah when I first saw it on there, I laughed at the memory, but then I saw the all-star cast, and decided to watch it and was amazed by how good it was.. very high production value!

Exactly and although I think dreamworks has lost it’s touch it had with making this movie a really good dreamworks movie released two years ago was abominable it had Rupert Gregoson-Williams in charge of the soundtrack just like he was for this movie and like 4 other dreamworks movies

Gleaming in the moonlight Cool and clean and all I've ever known All I ever wanted Sweet perfumes of incense Graceful rooms of alabaster stone All I ever wanted This is my home With my father, mother, brother Oh so noble, oh so strong Now I am home Here among my trappings and belongings I belong And if anybody doubts it They couldn't be more wrong I am a sovereign prince of Egypt A son of the proud history that's shown Etched on ev'ry wall Surely this is all I ever wanted All I ever wanted All I ever wanted [Queen] This is your home, my son Here the river brought you And it's here the river meant To be your home Now you know the truth, love Now forget and be content When the gods send you a blessing You don't ask why it was sent...
