These are a great replacement for a set of BFG Rugged Terrain TA's I ran years ago. Pro's: - Great traction in the snow. Never needed 4WD all winter. Only used it to keep the diff in shape. - Confident in the rain at any speed (in my Pro T4R). - Quiet in the summer. Haven't had them off-road, yet. UPDATE 11/28/2023 - took them to a mild offroad course and they do just fine in the dirt and sand and better than my Toyo Open Country R/T's. Cons: - Flat spots all year round that you have to drive out. Even in the summertime I still get flat spots (overnight). - UPDATE 11/28/2023 - I have 52,000 miles on mine and they still look brand new, but starting to hum a litle bit down the highway. Can still have a conversation in the vehicle without having to raise my voice. My brother went with a set of Toyo Open Country AT3's. I do not like those. The sipes only go halfway down the tread. The sipes on the Trail Terrain's go all the way down to the bottom of the tread. Big plus right there!

A great video, really comprehensive and objective. I put a set of these on 2020 RAV 4 Hybrid AWD and on dry tarmac, they are great - everyting that you have reported here. With just over 10,000 kms completed, I can say that the one really dissappointing thing that I have found is their performance on wet tarmac. They understeer horribly in turns. Perhaps it is because of the tarmac/hot mix that we have here in Australia, but as soon as it rains, you need to take off a heap speed in turns and in round-a-bouts and turn in really slowly and gently because the car just pushes across the apex of the turn and runs wide every time. Wear has been admirable, but I will be shifting to something else when these are worn; possibly Pirelli Scorpion or Dunlop Grand Trek.

I have that exact same question. Looking for an AT for light off-roading but also a good tire for towing a travel trailer. Have KO2's on my Bronco but they are too aggressive for my daily driver Maverick.

I'm looking to replace my Nitto TG G2s with these. The Nittos are garbage on wet pavement, or even that little bit of gravel that gathers in an intersection. I drive a stock 5.0 F-150, and barely tapping the accelerator will send them spinning. Never had a pair of tires like this.

thanks for the great review! i'm in the market to replace tires on my 2005 Toyota LC and am looking at the BFG's trail terrains. I will be 80% pavement, 20% mild off road trail conditions mostly in summer Forest Service roads with occasional rocky terrain. Enough winter/snow driving skiing etc. warrants good snow traction needed. How will they handle to weight of the LC? How about durability? Looking for good behavior on road as most time will be spent there but also looking for decent off road per conditions noted. How do you think these would do? Other/better options?

Will the 285 45 22 size of this tire work for a 2018 Yukon Xl ? I'm hearing mixed opinions on this. Comparing the specs to the stock Bridgestone Dueler h/l alenzas seems better? This would be a great tire for our needs just want to be sure it's safe to use.

Is it just me, or is the actual tread narrow? The sidewall sticks out pretty far past the tread, like it's just asking to pop a sidewall.
@MD-md4th
2 жыл бұрын
The tire has a normal cross-section. I noticed in some photos and videos that the shoulder looks almost concave, resulting in a somewhat bulging look to the sidewall. This is an optical illusion from certain angles due to the shape of the shoulder grooves - they shoulder and sidewall look normal in person.

As far as I can tell these are lightest light trail tire? I’m looking for a set for my outback, I’m already going from 17’s to 18’s since I had an old set of sparcos lying around and I’m looking for something slightly more aggressive but I don’t want to add any more weight than I have to. Does anyone know if this is indeed the lightest in its class??? I’m tempted to just go with some touring tires with three peaks but these look great.
