I have the ultra low checker that turns off after 3 min. the trick is to use 2 vials. I use the second vial for the reagent and mix it before turning the hanna on. I wouldn't hold the hanna in my hand half sideways while its reading like you did. lol. good vid

Thanks for the vid. Geek fun fact - 'U-shape' of water in the cuvette (vial) is called the meniscus.

Just used mine for the first time tonight. I wish I would have watched your video first! You gave some GREAT tips! I will have it down good next time I test. I just used two vials one with 10ml for the calibration then I have the other mixed up with reagent already to place it right into the reader so mine never times out. Great tip to get all the reagent into the tester! That was the main issue I had.

These checkers are one of greatest assets to owning a successful reef tank. I absolutely love the fact that these checkers take away any second guessing when checking parameters.

great video, as always. just want to mention that the timer of the phofphorus checker is set to 3 min and after that it will shut off, not 2 min. I have this checker and I always start a timer on my phone to be sure that I complete my test before the 3 minutes ends. It is doable if I cut (as you did in the video) the reagent before I start my test. Thanks for your great content. And for your beautiful tank. It is an inspiration for me.

So glad to have gotten this today. At first I had an issue with the display, but the second test seemed to be fine. I was using a different phosphate test kit (won’t say name) but it showed 00. I tested with the Hanna phosphate ULR at 0.71ppm.

Obviously Hanna still don’t realise the sachet are a frecking stupid idea, why not have a thin sugar type sachet which is easier to tip into the vial.

Lee Havicon Almost all science grade reagents come in packaging like that. It’s really nothing new. There’s a method to doing it you should look into. Just cut it to create a funnel.

You need to make a video on how to use all kinds of tests and different brands because most of the videos out there even the ones from the actual company selling the test are kinda shit. You do a great job explaining everything great video 👍🏼

The "U" that you are referring to Inside of the Glass "CUVETTE" (Expensive ones are made out of Crystal)is called a "Meniscus" caused by the Surface Tension of the Water in this case. But it can be caused by ANY Liquid being measured in ANY Gravity Measuring Laboratory "Glassware" i.e. Graduated Cylinders, Test Tubes, And Cuvette's.........But just to be "Lab Accurate". Always Measure By The Lowest Part Of The Meniscus (U).... Great Video Though! ✅😉 Sean.

Was wondering if you shared info about pinpointing the source of your minor hair algae issue you had a few videos ago. I think it was mentioned in the video about your ICP test results. Just looking forward to you sharing that info. Thanks for sharing your reef.

To convert phosphorus ppb to Phosphate ppm you need to multiply by 3,066 and divide by 1000. So 1ppb of phosphorus is about 0,00366 ppm Phosphate.

I weigh my water on digital scales 10ml of sea water is equivalent to 10.2518 grams. And that way its the same every time, make sure you have scales that do 0.01g.

Man, I just learned that ONLY the ‘ULR’ (HI774) is certified as accurate for ‘Marine’ use. Crap I’ve been using Hanna’s ‘Phosphate LR’ (HI713) instead of ‘Phosphate ULR’ (HI774) No wonder my readings have been 0.00 for so long! Yep sucks to learn I’ve unknowingly been using the wrong one for the past couple years. The things I’m still learning...lol.
