I know it's year old but you don't get Swanson speech if you dishonorable, only if you don't help brother Dorkins (or something like that) and sister Calderon, you can have high honor and talk with Swanson
@gamerraider889

@@Kalorak111 Yeah, I had forgotten to do that side-mission early on and wouldn't you know it; I got to the mission where you have to run away from the army and send the captain on his way and I found Swanson there. I felt like I made a mistake, but seeing as it was new content to me at the time I enjoyed seeing him. And it felt a lot more fitting for the closing of the story as he spoke directly about the gang. While I enjoy Sister's speech better considering Arthur's character, I feel like you need to speak with Swanson at some point. It's not something you can really brush off.

I love the mood with the mrs downes collection at #10. The music in the ride, Arthur’s bluntness and detached coldness, the dialogue and sound quality. It’s the peak of Arthur as the ‘villain’ in the story, regardless of which type of honor play through you’re going for. It’s great

Maybe it's not a cinematic dialogue, but I love when, in the middle of the fight against micah, Arthur just says "I got what I wanted" For me, that phrase is strong, since for Arthur's perspective it doesn't matter what happens next, he knows he made it giving John, his brother, a new chance to live and be a real man; and that's why he won the fight even before it got started

The elk's call at 6:59 is extremely symbolic imo. Elks used to signify endurance, which that's exactly what John and Arthur did. The constant antics from Dutch made their loyalty be tested and in the end, it endured. Could be the call was random, or it was an actual thing in the real scene. Either way, the way it sounds after Arthur reminds John that they endured and never changed is incredible

My very first time playing through the whole of RDR2 I started out doing all the bad guy choices because I hadn't done an evil run as my first run for a game in a long time, and without even realizing it I started seeing Arthur change his ways and for whatever reason my gameplay naturally shifted back toward trying to right all the wrongs I did in the game. His performance throughout the entire game is just so captivating and naturally made me feel like I was Arthur in each moment. It's never too late to start over, and to be redeemed from past mistakes.

I don't know why but Arthur's eyes from 6:30 to 6:40 and just the way how he looks at John there's just something about that look the look of care the look of everything like he's finally figured out that Dutch is a bad man and he finally understands his life this may not be the best description but there's just something about the look that he gives him

The beauty of RDR2 is that in a way arthur goes on an almost spiritual journey, Arthur reflects on his mortality, his actions, his upbringing, his beliefs, his morality, his whole life in a way that only the prospect of certain death can bring out of someone who's lived the kind of life Arthur has. His experience becomes ours and surely enough the game slowly builds on Arthurs internal change, he sheds the stoic upright confident demeanor of a seasoned outlaw and moves more sluggishly, he decays outwardly but internally his change starts to subtly influence his actions both in gameplay and throughout the games' story. The game and story is imperfect at times but its a gem for the whole medium of gaming in that challenges the preconceptions of the quality of immersion, cinematography, core gameplay (On a smaller level) that games can produce. Rockstars' sincerity in crafting Arthurs world view, nuances and ticks as well as the story and setting is magical. Its a beautiful tale that speaks to the humanity in everyone. It doesnt paint caricatures of human beings or stereotype them into good or bad categorical terms, Arthur has good and bad inside of him like everyone. His environment and his choices brought him here and he decides to make new choices after his diagnosis. Arthur is a great character because yes he has good and bad in him and he's done some bad but we can also see he sincerely wants to do good. He wants to be an honest and kind man. And for the most part he is. But he's human and was raised to be a criminal and he choose that life without question its all he knew. So he also does bad things and were presented with a man at the end of his life and dive into his well of experiences and reflections to peel back his layers and discover the years of love, loss, friendships, betrayals, hopes, dreams, failures and successes he's experienced and in the process come to love Arthur not just because of what we know about him but what we experience with him as well. The game in my personal opinion is a masterpiece and redefined what I thought games were allowed to do. It takes risks with its overly immersive and realistic approach to gameplay. It takes the risk of alienating players with its overly finicky control scheme and enforced slow traveling time that slow the game down but even then I can appreciate the ambition on rockstars part to create an open world that they truly want players to experience and marvel at as much as it is at the expense of the players enjoyment at times . The way I see it, Like naughty dog before with The Last of us, like CD Projekt red with Wild Hunt, like hideo kojima with MGS, It redefines the medium and tells other gaming studios that making games is about taking risks, doing things that not everyone will love but its worth a shot. And im sure that on some level rockstar is receptive to the games' shortcomings and will bear those criticisms in mind for their next game but until then they should be extremely proud of what theyve accomplished here.
