As a kid I was on the east coast and I was staying up for 10pm starts to watch Giants games because Barry Bonds was the most exciting hitter to watch. In 2004 Bonds had 232 walks.. that is unbelievable, the next closest walk totals in a season are 198 and 177, both also set by Bonds. In that season Barry Bonds only struck out 41 times! and batted .362 with 45 home runs and 101 rbis.. Imagine the stats he could have put up if he didn't walk 232 times! In 2019 the league leader in walks was Bregman with 119. Let that sink in.

How far is it to hit a ball into McCovey Cove? And did Willie McCovey ever hit any that far? Definitely yes. Someone figured out the distance into McCovey as being between 367' and 466', depending which angle from the foul pole: tht.fangraphs.com/the-physics-of-splash-hits/ Of McCovey's 521 HRs, 236 were at Candlestick Park where he had to deal with a 400-foot right field fence in an unfavorably windy ballpark. He hit perhaps 150 HRs to right field there, presumably most of which would have carried into McCovey Cove today, as well as certainly many long fly-outs to right field which would have done the same. www.baseball-reference.com/players/event_hr.fcgi?id=mccovwi01&t=b
