i think now his career has wound down and motorsports knowledge is spreading more across disciplines he is recognized as one of the few indy champs , f1 champs and indy 500 winners . which is an increadible feat . the latter years of f1 really tainted him as lots of people are so f1 centric , but over time they are being forgotten and his achievements noted.

Indycar suited his style and attitude more, you could be a more aggressive driver and be a more authentic person rather than an automaton.

Jacques was great in Toyota Atlantic, CART and then F1. Of course I followed his career in North America. It's a shame he did not stay but he had some rather heavy unfinished business to take care of in Formula One. This truly was a high water mark for open wheel in America.

Goodyear screwed himself out of that 500. The pace car was slow all race long and Goodyear should have anticipated that. Actually, the reason he was even in the lead was because Pruett did the same mistake on the penultimate restart.

Jacques Villeneuve is too complicated for Americans to say so they mispronounce it...
@maxmulsanne7054

Yeah, as an American I'm bothered by that fact. Especially with a commentator like Paul Page. At least Ken Squire (CBS F1 coverage 1979-1985) made more of an effort when he mentioned Gilles.
