That's the best demo of resistor vs non-resistor I've ever seen since the two stroke motorcycles I've worked on aren't as sensitive. Now I'll be trying it on my saws out of curiosity.

The test results are very interesting. I thought resistor plugs were designed to reduce RFI for automobiles equipped with radios and certain types of ignition control modules. A resistor plugs usually only adds 5-10 ohms of resistance. Looking back now, I see I answered my own question. Maybe the ignition system on that trimmer is sensitive to RFI. Thanks for the demonstration. Sometimes we overlook the basics when troubleshooting!

I posted a question about V=IR. If 5 to 10Ω is a plug's resistance, and 25,000 volts (that's a guess), is present before the resistor plug, then the final result would be significantly increased by the plug's resistance, (Do you think I'm on the right track) ?

More like 5kOhms + A Champion RCJ7Y goes from 6kOhm to 15kOhm

@@icsp2 Thank you for the info. So is there any reason that V = IR would not apply ? and if it does, we are increasing the voltage delivered to the combustion chamber, at which point the use of a resistor plug might be imperative, if the system is designed to use one.

Great video, thank you: Does this have to do with V=IR ?
