Yeah. pretty bad from a writing perspective. I get the sense that Gendy Really did want to continue the series but still hadn't cemented any great ideas on how to actually finish the story. hence why Season 5 starts INCREDIBLY, then slowly tapers off before ending pretty clumsily.

@Omnipotentmonkey

@@group3-oralcom.stagas11-ar3 seriously man, are you an idiot? for one, if Aku dies in the past then he never sends Jack into the future, the entire SERIES never happens, and Jack never meets or connects with Ashi anyway. because even if there was a Jack sent forward there'd be no Aku or Ashi in that future. meaning it's all a damn paradox regardless and this ending makes no sense. I can forgive that to an extent, but the issue here is rather than just... you know, dying instantly because she was erased by the paradox, she dies far later because.... error 404. literally no reason... TLDR, Gendy liked Gurren Lagann so he ripped off its ending wholesale regardless of how little sense it made for Samurai Jack.

@Karomix3

They used to care for each other, but the cult discouraged them all the time until they finally stopped. That's even sadder. They were literally told that caring for one another was a weakness that would get them killed, ironically that's what gets them killed since they don't cover for each other when they are attacked, which makes them less efficient the more they lose one of them.

The ending was ok, but I kinda expected jack to kill Aku in the future, free the future, become the bearded man with the crown and rule the future and undo the rest of Aku’s evil. The tragedy in that would’ve been like this: Jack never got back to the past, his father and his people died as slaves and everything and everyone he knew and grew up with suffered and are long dead, but he could be at ease knowing that he stopped that from ever happening again. That would’ve been more bittersweet and fitting.

I think the bed head daughter had the naginata because you could obviously tell how she was trained in the first episode along with the others. The two with the wolverine hairstyle and the dot from animaniacs hair got speared because they needed help in the first episode too. Or the banged one could have gotten speared instead of the wolverine haired because look how she was trained xciv. The wolverine haired could have had the kanabo because she ducks and jumps instead of moving out of the way. Another obvious factor is that you can see the daughter of aku with the buttercup looking hair having the two butterfly swords while they were on their final training test in xcii

Ѕмσl и' Ѕαlту This plot hole would be fixed if you apply the alternate timeline theory, but that would mean that Ashi wouldn't have faded away, unless she was sustained by Aku's presence for some reason. That is unlikely, since, earlier, she felt his presence leave. This would also mean there is another, rather confused Samurai Jack stuck in a future without Aku, probably modern day. This Samurai, who likely isn't called Jack, would have no idea any of this ever happened, unless he reads about it in ancient scrolls written by the alternate version of himself. Ask me about anything that's confusing about this theory.

gosh now that you think about it, those poor sisters were being tortured and trained to kill him their whole life... even since they were wee tods, their mom just treated them like robots and would actually kill them if you mess up... yikes. tbh, if all they all worked together as a team, they could’ve had more potential. i would’ve loved to see more screentime of their past instead of them being killed in less than 5 minutes. ashi is lucky though. if jack showed mercy upon another of the sisters, it would’ve been the same cuz they were all lost and trapped in aku’s darkness. they’re human and if you remove the mask, you will feel some sympathy for them

I am surprised Jack even managed to convince one. The risks of trying to convince them all or even more than one were imense. Bothering to keep them alive while they fight back is hard enough as it is, specially outnumbered like that, now even if he managed to capture them all, carrying them and feeding them and keeping them from escaping is much less reliable than doing it to just one. Worse of all now. Convincing them, terrible odds. Ashi alone with nobody dragging her down was hard, but all the sisters together would form an echo chamber and help each-other remain on Aku's side collectively.

Not quite. Jack did time travel to the future, and than agian back to the past. Ashi however originated from that future which was now destroyed. Yes theoretically Jack existing is a paradox, but it's a paradox that needs to exist for the story to even be possible.

Pretty much Aku is the main source for everything happening. Without Aku being born, Jack would have never gone into the alternate future and met Ashi. Yet at the same time without Aku, Ashi would have never been born. In a sense, Jack lived a lonesome life after Aku's death. It might have been a better future, but a lonely one at best. Too bad they didn't have sex earlier, then it's possible Jack could have had a child with Ashi.

Hence why I think the alternate ending works better kzitem.info/news/bejne/unin24OwgH6BrG0 Not only is it a happy ending, but it…kinda solves the paradox? My reason is that the paradox may have caused the timeline to split when Jack went back. So there’s a timeline where Aku is still ruling everything, and one where he’s dead and Jack is living with Ashi. Maybe they went back to the future after and killed him in that timeline, or neither of them bothered since Jack and Ashi thought he was dead, and Aku is just happy Jack is out of the picture.

Yes, but this Ashi doesn't exist anymore. And that Alternate Ashi and her sisters do, but they're different characters and so is their mother. That would mean that they're human, but that new future where Aku died, hasn't been created yet.

I think one of the devs said its not clear whether drinking Aku's essence is what actually got her pregnant or if she was already pregnant to begin with from some unknown man (who was probably kidnapped, raped and then sacrificed since there were no men in the cult) and Aku's essence just infected the fetuses.

I know it still wouldn't be a HAPPY ending but personally I would have liked them to do a time loop. Let me explain: Ashi and Jack get married, have kids, the world lives on in relative peace for a couple thousand years, Jack/Ashi fade into obscurity possibly are forgotten all together. Time jump to one of their VERY DISTANT decendants sitting in a hospital holding a small bundle. Doctor asks "have you decided on a name?" We see a healthy smiling baby grab her finger "Aku" the woman replies. Fade to black with distant echo Aku laugh. The implication (and possible spin off) being that something ATROCIOUS happens to make happy baby Aku SNAP and decide he needs to go back in time to change the future by exerting his will over the progression of humanity/technology/history. Aku goes back, Jack suffers, Ashi is born, Aku dies, Ashi/Jack live happily ever after, Aku is born, rinse and repeat. Without Jack AND Ashi Aku's blood line never exists. It's a vicious cycle but Jack/Ashi technically DO GET their happy ending... For a price...

I never thought of this before, but Jack effectively erased almost everyone he ever after getting flung into the future. Aku was such a major part of the world for thousands of years that he likely effected people meeting and falling in love, regardless of if he knew that or not. Now people who were born in the old time line never well and new people will be born in their places. Naturally there are some exceptions, thoughts from off world who were far enough outside of Aku's spear of influence that it didn't effect their origins.

One really interesting detail is that they showed Jack's shock when he killed the first daughter it was the first time Jack killed a human which is something he never did and would have never done if he knew that she was a human and not a robot. edit : forgot to mention that the reason Ashi disappeared is not because she needed Aku to be alive but because since Aku messed with time by sending Jack back in time then he created a paradox which led the original Aku to be killed right after Jack was sent in the past it's also because Ashi took Jack in the future/past which also created another paradox and since she went to a timeline where she wasnt created yet Jack killing Aku led to Ashi's disappearence which is also why she said she would have never existed if Aku was dead

I wish all daughters of Aku didn’t have to died. They’re victim of Aku Brainwashed, i was hoping they didn’t have to died. They’re deserved the second chance to live a new life and redemptions. I can’t stand it in the series so much blood of innocence shedding for others wrong and ignorance. I’m rejected the killing and executing, everyone deserves a Life and New beginning, it’s death and violence the only way to solve everything between human being and everyone. Keeping Ashi alive until the wedding was definitely done for the sake of drama, rather than consistent storytelling. If Aku's death means she never existed, then the moment Aku died she should have vanished. If they wanted to be consistent and hit hard, they should have had Jack turn to Ashi moments after Aku died, and no one is there.
@kauske
4 жыл бұрын
Logically, she might as well have vanished from existence at any point ,considering it's all in the future from where Aku was killed off. Jack should have also not been able to return to the past using her for that same reason. It's a damned grandfather paradox. The only way not to have a plot hole in this scenario is convoluted exposition, which can be just as bad.

The finale was so disappointing for me. Ashi and Jack do have the potential to be an interesting couple with alot in common, but none of their similarities were acknowledged. They're both socially awkward outcasts who have been sheltered from the world in a very dramatic way, because of Aku, they're both awkward as hell inherently because of the environments they live in, they could really work together! Yet on screen it was all poorly-done fanservice that was horny as hell, and then awkwardness between them, and then they were married, and then she fucking dies. I'm not even gonna mention the fact Ashi was a child by the time Jack had already been an adult for years, frozen in time or not that shit is creepy! They didn't even have to make Ashi that young in the flashback, they made her a child to try and induce more drama from it. So basically, Jack loses every friend he made in the bad future timeline, he loses his lover who he spent no time getting to know, nevermind GIVING HER TIME TO MAYBE REGISTER THE FACT HE KILLED ALL HER SISTERS, and he rejoices with his parents but we see NO emotional interaction from it. They don't even talk to Jack, and not even Ashi. What the fuck happened to this series after the first couple episodes?
