I really love the theory of Qu having multiple levels of themselves that look drastically different from one another, because it reminds me of different levels of biblically accurate angels, which suits the Qu’s god complex quite nicely
@amelialonelyfart8848
10 ай бұрын
It's my daily obligation to mention "Biblically accurate angels" is actually just straight up a lie that was spread by a humor site in the early 2010s. Most angels in the Bible were described as humanoid with human faces, anuses, hair, etc. It is why angels and humans were sexually compatible, which is quite a common motif in the bible. It was even literally said that angels were supposed to look like the most generic of random people so humans to properly judge their morality (a human is more likely to be a jackass to Joe the Tailor than some weird creature). The paintings used to back up "biblical" angels are extra biblical by a factor of several hundred to one thousand years.

'The untold story' might just be the most compelling/impactful theory. If the Star People really somehow attracted the Qu to them, the overarching narrative wouldn't just be 'you might suffer for what seems like eternity, but if you persevere long enough, you can overcome anything'. It'd be that but as the answer to the question, what happens if you go looking for something completely beyond your understanding and power? That's pure cosmic horror and speculative fiction right there. It also tracks with other themes, like 'nothing lasts forever' or 'intelligent beings are their own worst enemy'. Great stuff - thanks for sharing.

About the Qu's genetic modification methods, to me it seems implied that they were able to genetically modify already living organisms. I dont think the tail method makes sense, but with their advanced understanding of genetic engineering i do think they could turn an existing star person into a colonial. The way i imagined the process was some sort of slow torturous scientific procedure where the subjects genes are modified within their own body, rather than being removed and put into a new host.

The Qu modifying the weaker and more docile Star people that didn't fight back, into a fate more desirable and less punishing by their standards, I think for me means they're domestication tgem like humans. Like how human ancestors would pick the more timid and less aggressive cats and dogs to live with their settlements and cast out or kill any of the ones that bite or are aggressive. And let only the gentler beasts breed. But I love your betrayal theory too.

Were the asteromorphs even the same star people that ventured out into the unknown? Maybe the reason there are no remnants of humanity on earth is because they did in fact encounter the qu and were the ones to venture out and occupy the various asteroid belts in the galaxy. They took a note from the star people's quest to populate the galaxy but instead modified themselves into beings that were conditioned to life in the void of space. I think it was the remnants of earth and Mars and the star people who stayed behind in the solar system putting all their combined efforts together to avoid the same fate as their brothers. They would have been the eldest and probably most advanced of all the human civilizations in the galaxy, they were probably the only ones capable of such a feat. It actually falls in line with the idea of them being the only human species that wasn't modified by the qu themselves, there would be a kind of poetic symmetry to it that it was the original descendants of humanity that prevailed. So it's a combination of both the good and bad endings you described, even in the best case scenario the qu would have eventually found them.

I like the idea that the author is not necessarily part of an ultra evolved species that we couldn’t even begin comprehend- that its also taken aback by the deep time and billion years of history preceding it. My theory for what the Asteromorphs did to the Qu could be genetic modification, but not for the reason most people think. I think that since the Asteromorphs are so advanced as a species both biologically and technologically, they would try to be better than the Qu and invent new ways to elevate themselves morally. Asteromorphs think that the Qu are too dangerous to be left alive in their original form, but killing them is probably nothing better than what the Qu did. So my guess is that the Asteromorphs modified the Qu to not be dangerous or ever risk being a threat to them, but let the Qu live for themselves. The Qu retain their autonomy, but lose their potential to cause harm the way they have done before. This way, the Asteromorphs avoid killing and genetic retribution, yet ensure safety for their own species. One can argue that them modifying the Qu is also being just as bad, but there could be a point made that totally erasing the Qu's existence all together is much worse. Also one can argue that genetically modifying to only eradicate violent tendencies, keeping Qu's autonomy intact, is not the same as completely altering a whole species to pure subjugation/permanently stunting sentience like the Qu has done.

I think there are two different ways the fingerfishers became the sail. 1. The fingerfishers eventually overfish and need to become fighters to kill the larger more dangerous fish. 2. Due to their peaceful life the fingerfishers eventually overpopulate their world and nearly kill all the fish. Forcing the fingerfishers to put limits on the amount that could be hunted at a time leading to mass starvation and infighting over the small amount of food allowed until the fish repopulate the oceans.

They were found to be a future race of humans that was literally an equal mix of every ethnic group humanity has. That's what the author is, a future race made up of all the once-human species all crossbreeding (due to their latent human DNA it's possible) and Author is researching its roots.

Fantastic video and I will definitely be sharing this to my other friends of similar mind but Ive always thought that while its pretty clear that the Qu clearly have sadistic intent in their creations with a clear goal of making life suffer it doesnt actually have to be because theyre reacting emotionally. Ive always liked to imagine that the reason theyre actions are so horrific is actually based on a colder and more rational state of mind. Consider things people and other primapes on Earth do for the entire purpose of psychological warfare. Chimps will cannibalize the younger chimps of an opposing tribe of chimps entirely as an act of psychological warfare and dont even get me started on the things humans have done for the same reason. Its a tried and true method of exerting power over others with minimal resourse and time. Its always felt to me at least that they were just doing what any apex organism does naturally and found a way to do it while also benefitting themselves. The star people posed a worthy enough adversary to warrant more than one attack and you cant pretend to be a god overseeing your place in the cosmos when you need more than one swing UNLESS you can save face by pretending you have other intentions. I find it hard to believe that the Qu would be as advanced as they are and also arrogant enough to believe theyre the top dogs in all existence. I guess what Im saying is would you want to start shit with the mfs that turn their enemies into sewage pipes even if you think you can win? The true horror of the Qu can be found with a surface level analysis of human psychology and thats what makes this shit smack but Its also a little presumptious to assume the Qu have god complexes. Im sure to us and the less advance life forms theyve come into contact with they could easily be assumed to shine in that light but I just have a hard time believing that a species can rise to the level of dominance the Qu have without having a keen understanding of their own weaknesses (not something someone with a god complex can do) which I think would likely be the entire reason that they do the experiments they do. Id argue that everything known about them points to more insecurities than a blown up ego which is also probably the reason they became what they are. TLDR: Im prolly wrong but Im not even convinced the Qu register on an emotional level. Even from the narrative perspective youre only reading it from the perception of a comparitively limited and emotional lifeform so the reader is supposed to assume that the information received in the book is subject to misinformation and projection. If you look at the Qu and only think about what their recorded actions are, most of that sounds like what a really smart sociopath would do.
