Differences between Crystal and Vietnamese Crystal: - Items, Pokemon, and moves are renamed. - Participating in the bug-catching contest (and a few other things) are likely to crash the game (save data is unaffected, to just save often and it won't be much of a problem). - Volcano Bakemeat.

For the longest time I had no idea why "crystal" was the better version of the metallics (gold/silver), until I looked into it. Many things people don't normally think of as "crystals" actually are, including many stones and metals. Gold and silver, as metals, are much more often found in their non-crystaline form. However an alloy of gold and silver, called electrum, does come in a crystalline form much more often though. Turns out the name is perfect. And speaking of Crystal, a quirk about Pokemon Stadium 2 is that it was released a bit before Crystal was finished, so it doesn't have Crystal moveset and location data, BUT it's set up to expect Crystal so when a copy is plugged in, the game updates itself with that data.

Pokemon Crystal Japanese and International are completely different. Here are the change in the Japanese version: 1. GS Ball is obtainable to be used in the Ilex Forest Shrine. 2. The Pokemon Center in Goldenrod City is very large with a large machine in it. 3. You can trade your Pokemon over the Internet with a cellphone. This only worked with Japanese phone numbers if I remember right. You needed a special cable. The cellphone in the instructions looked like an old Nokia phone. 4. Beauties and swimmers had sprite changes. They were too sexual. 5. Glitches from USA Gold / Silver are present in Japanese Crystal. These are all the changes I noticed.

Regional changes would be nice....they are a type of "version exclusive" in their own sense. For gen 2 specifically it's kinda weird to see a "version exclusive" video not touch on the changes made to the Goldenrod Pokémon Centre from the Japanese version of Crystal to non-Japanese releases (and the Celebi event being removed and whatnot). Still a great video though!

I know this video is over a year old....but there were changes from Japanese Crystal to international versions. The biggest noticeable change was Japan had the Pokemon Communication Center which was an early concept version to what we have now as the GTS. With it, along with the Mobile Adaptor GB, you could trade with other trainers with compatible mobile phones as well as get the exclusive GS Ball which allows you to encounter celebi. In the original international versions before the release of the virtual console version, this was removed and the PCC was reverted back to a normal Pikemon Center due to the Mobile Adaptor GB not being released due to financial and commercial failure of the adaptor not appealing to audiences ...it also made the GS Ball unobtainable and unable to get celebi except through distribution events. However, data to get the GS Ball in the Pokemon center was left intact and was not edited into the localized version until the virtual console release.
