1) I finished a practically new towel. I don’t understand why manufacturers don’t do this right away (it turned out to be an ideal thing for the beach).
Backpacks have been at the peak of popularity for a long time. Now you can often see people of all ages with a backpack on their back. Look, granny, she’s also got a backpack on. I saw business men in suits and with a backpack.
And it’s very convenient: your hands are free, and you can fit a lot of things. But a few years ago, no one except schoolchildren wore them.
A backpack can be made from the most unusual things. Today I’ll show you how a beach towel can be turned into a stylish backpack. When you go to the sea, you need to take a towel with you. In order not to carry it in a bag, the option with a transformable backpack will come in handy.
Here's how it's done:
- You need to take any large towel, fold it in half lengthwise, and then crosswise into 4 folds. My towel is 54x170cm, when folded it turns out to be 27x42.5cm.
- Now we need to take any fabric for the backpack. It should be one-fourth the size of a towel, but with extras. I got 54+5 cm x 43+5 cm = 59x48 cm.
- The fabric was swept on three sides. I turned the fourth side 3 cm and stitched it, this will be a drawstring for the cord.
- I attached a pocket to one half, for this I retreated 15 cm, the entrance is from the side of the drawstring.
- Place the resulting fabric on the towel; the hemmed fabric is placed 2 cm above the edge of the towel.
- I made a line from the top to the middle of the towel, then along the bottom in the middle, like the letter G.
- I folded the unsewn fabric along the middle.
- I made a stitch: from below the fold I stitched the towel and fabric together, then at a right angle to the mark, here the fabric is already stitched without a towel. I skipped 2 cm and finished the stitching.
- I prepared a cord 150 cm long. I threaded it into the drawstring, then I pushed it inside the backpack and pulled it through a 2 cm hole. I stitched the hole with the rope.
How to fold:
- I folded the towel lengthwise in half, then crosswise in half and in half again, making a rectangle with fabric on top.
- To turn it inside out, I put my hands inside the fabric bag. She grabbed the towel and pulled it through the bag.
As a result, the folded towel ended up inside the backpack. All that remains is to tighten the rope, hang the backpack on your shoulder and go swimming.
2) I don’t recommend throwing away a broken umbrella; it can be remade into a useful thing for the summer and will serve you for a long time.
Today I’ll show you how to sew a tablecloth bag for a picnic from an umbrella, and it will also be suitable for the beach:
- First you need to tear the fabric from the knitting needles. The curved dome must be leveled and the triangles trimmed.
- It's better to do it with one half first, then the other and then sew it together. Sew the missing wedge from another fabric.
- Now make a circle from a flat canvas, its diameter will be 90-100 cm, depending on the size of the umbrella.
- The bag will be double, I cut out another circle.
- Now we need to cut out the parts: 25x35 cm - 4 pcs., 25x25 cm - 1 pc., 14x14 cm - 2 pcs., for the pocket.
- Sew 4 25x35 cm pieces to the sides of the 25x25 cm piece. At the same time, do not add 0.7 cm on each side for the lapel.
- Sew a pocket to one side.
- Place the stitched part in the middle of the circle. Now you need to sew zippers between the right angles, you will need 4 pieces, 37 cm long.
- The zipper must be unzipped, the metal part should be placed in the very corner, and the two unzipped parts should be placed at right angles, pinned together and stitched. I thought it would be difficult, but in fact everything turned out quickly and simply.
- Now you need to trim the edges of the circle with bias tape or tape.
- In the middle of the circle, sew a ribbon that goes into the handles. My handles are 50 cm long.
- Zippers close and you get a roomy bag that can hold a lot of picnic food or beach items.
Ready!
With a slight movement of the hand, the bag turns into a waterproof tablecloth.
