This presentation will show how to connect the three single-coil pickups in a Stratocaster guitar, to access all of its 47 different possible pickup tones. The first part will briefly discuss what defines the tone of a pickup and how this relates to the total sound of a guitar. Underlying principles behind pickup connections and how to simplify the design of a switch system that will be able to access the 47 pickup tones will also be discussed. The second part will show the schematic diagrams of all the 47 pickup tones with a general description of the effect and character of the connections. The sequence of presentation will be from the simplest group to the most complex group.
This was first published in talk.philmusic.com/index.php?t... in 2009. But I was banned in that forum when I protested against censorship by a moderator, in another thread I started critical of a very popular multi-effects pedal. I never used any foul or offensive language. The censorship was very arbitrary and my banishment unjust and unfair. When I was able to gain access to my thread about my switch system through my account again, I wanted to delete it but I was only able to delete my posts. However, remnants of my posts still remain from posts quoting me. Since I am not welcom in that forum, why should my ideas remain there, in a forum where there is always a threat of unwarranted censorship.
