I'd have gone a Haltech Nexus R5 w/ IC-7 if it was out at the time when that portion of my build was under way. Currently running an AIM PDM32 w/ 10" screen connected to a GM E38; for anyone wondering. I'm not happy with the support from AIM, also the cross the fingers approach they take on PDM firmware releases for new AIM products they really want to make some money on. The PDM or VCM is the (very expensive) heart of the car, it's no joke to turn people's pride and joy into a brick. Thanks for the new products Scotty & Haltech.

I was wondering, because it supports up to 8 x injectors, what is my option if I want to run 12 x injectors (6 x primary and 6 x secondary) for running nitrous on my 2JZ build. Would this R3 still be suitable? Or is there a way around this issue to be able to control additional injectors?
@haltech
Жыл бұрын
With the R3 you would need to do it in batches - ie two groups of 3 injectors, but we would probably recommend going up to the R5 where you can run both stages sequentially. Best thing to do is to contact our Tech Support either via phone or via email (support@haltech.com). One of our tech guys will be able to go through the settings and recommend the right ECU for your application.

Why use an internal boost sensor? Maybe it's my inexperience, but it seems like most people would run a remote sensor to measure their boost to fit their application, as well as have a replaceable piece if there is a failure.

Does the R3 replace the Elite 2500 and would you recommend the R3 over the Elite 2500 for a JZX100 ?
@haltech
Жыл бұрын
The Nexus R3 is a different product to the Elite 2500, so it's not meant as its replacement. If you're using an existing fuse/relay wiring and you don't plan on replacing it with a PDM-based system then the Elite is still a better option. Likewise if you're using a factory harness and want a Plug'n'Play solution - the Elite series offer a big range of PnP support - including the JZX100 (see link below). On the other hand, if you're re-wiring your car or building a race car from scratch, then we would highly recommend the R3. www.haltech.com/product/ht-151354-elite-2500-toyota-chaser-jzx100-1jz-gte/

I really want to understand the product person who thought this up or came up with pricing. I thought maybe you might compete with Holley's success with the Terminator X and Terminator X Max, but then you priced it like a Dominator with fewer IO, so I can't tell who you're going after. I was _really_ hoping to use this on a Drag & Drive Coyote, but I'm struggling to make it make sense.

Neither Terminator nor Dominator are really comparable to the Nexus units. The main difference being the in-built PDM in both the R5 and the R3. So when comparing them to the Holley products you really need to look at ALL the specs to get the full picture. Both the R5 and the R3 are an excellent option for the drag and drive applications, not just because of the features they offer, like wi-fi comms for example, but mainly because of the ease of diagnostics and troubleshooting that comes with using a single unit controlling the entire vehicle from the engine to power distribution, all within one software. We would highly recommend you have a close look at a car that runs a Nexus R5 to see how the system works. It's not for everyone, but those who have it, love it:)
