Loving this cosmic trend/theme in metal lately whether it be the cosmic horror of bands like Blood Incantation/Revocation/Sulphur Aeon (although there more lovecraftian) etc. or some sweet sweet scientific space tech death from Allegaeon i gotta say keep it up. From the birth of metal weve heard songs about satan and demons and thats fine but unless your doing it out of passion for the subject like Of Feather and Bone do with the aztec underworld or tomb mold do with bloodborne etc. Without the passion it just comes across as a generic gimmick insert glen benton/deicide joke here

Always very pleased when a new Allegaeon album is due for release. They are always dependable with delivering whilst not repeating themselves which speaks to the songwriting prowess yet it does not "progress" so that it becomes a load of pretentious filled, hyper-driven ego tripe nor too "experimental" that it ends up as some sort of electronic, synth-based drones/pads with sporadic layers here and there of what sounds akin to someone tapping on an empty tin can whilst running the source through a delay and filter combination and recording the resulting signal. Add in some clean vocals smothered in a big glossy lexicon 480L random hall reverb algorithm whilst the bass guitarist and guitarist wind up with their input that has been laid down and is all just ready and waiting to be mixed for each track just mysteriously manage not making it into the mix, I hope that makes sense and you have all heard it before when a band loses the plot and declare that the upcoming album will be an experimental, progressive journey with that never seems to fail to any quality, heavy band on what should be a huge modern metal tour de force into a bland, spacious, beige coloured wash out which would the sound of mic'd up strand of cotton with a rat pissing on it sound almost as heavy as anything of off Crowbar's first 3 full lengths or the Live + 1 EP in comparison. Allegaeon and Metal Blade Records, That is something which does not go unnoticed or unappreciated over 25 years now in my case. Cheers
