Love the way cordovan varies in tone and would love to see a follow up of how your cordovan boots color mellowed out after you’ve put a few 100 miles on them and countless hours of sunlight. Breaking in cordovan is an art form and admittedly fun.

cool shoes. and for anyone griping about price, just like w watches one can buy used, especially w AE, you can, I know because i routinely do, find them used on Ebay and thrift shops for between 5 and 60 dollars depending on shoe and condition, if not terrible you can self restore for a few bucks, or you can send them to AE go refurbish for 125, so you get a great shoe for less than 150 to 200. in my case I've several pairs w a total cost after clean up, shine, new insole insert for about 10 to 15 bucks a pop

I watched reviews, read up on the Allen Edmonds manufacturing methods and history, it all sounded great. So I bought a pair of Chukka Boots, great product, great purchasing experience overall, I decided to buy more shoes. Bought a pair of Dalton Wingtip Dress Boots. I received 2 different color boots, also one of the boots seemed to be a different vintage or much older and had been on display for some time. Multiple price tickers attached and removed, physical dimensions were different, a different cut of the same style. I called customer service, they apologized and said they would send out another pair, free shipping. Got the next pair, shoes are with out a doubt reject, factory second shoes. I wear a size 9.5, the shoes I received are a size 8 or possible even smaller, but marked as a 9.5 D The shoes were also misshapen. The left looked like a right, the toe was curved outward. The worst quality I've seen from any shoe company, shameful quality.

The thing I don’t think people really seem to understand with boots like this is that $725 might seem like a lot up front but in the long run these are actually a lot cheaper than buying $150-$200 boots over and over and over again every 2-3 years because boots like this especially if they’re made of Shell Cordovan can easily last you 20+ years with proper care.
@the.magnus

The real advantage of Goodyear welt compared to modern construction, glued methods is that the boots can be recrafted, the soles be can replaced/restitched. It does not make the boots more comfortable or easier to break in as noted in the video.

Thats what black shell would be the best choice. Also you should know the leather is produced and fabricated in thr dominican republic and the pieces sewn together here in america. Its not a 100% made in US like alden. I own a pr if calfskins in black, its the best leather ive owned in a shoe. Even though the soles are leather i can walk miles in them. Well made for sure but ashtetically i wasnt crazy about them. Looks a little weird compared to other wingtip. I will say that the 511 last is nice n roomy. I like them.

Shell comes from a Horse, but is not the same as Horse hide. The shell comes from a single patch on each rear haunch, enough for one pair of shoes. Shell is sort of a membrane beneath the hide, and the first step of tanning is to strip away the outer layer of horse hide, and it is a long process to complete tanning, hence the high price. Buy them while you are young 'cause they will last a lifetime if cared for. don't forget to care for the leather lining because the outer shell will out last the lining. So, rotate the shoes allowing the lining to dry out between wearings, and use conditioner occasionally just as you would on the outer.

Great video! But this is without a doubt a more upper echelon of value, because be honest 600eur for a boot isn't what most people consider even to be in the realm of their idea for shoe prices.... In this case have a look at Meermin, a company located in Spain that offers quality that is recommended by tailors in Saville Row (yes the Golden Mile advises this company for the average joe in the street) and does this at a price almost HALF of the Allen Edmonds... Never forget that there is a premium to be paid when a big name is involved.

As an older viewer, moving into mens fashion instead of deeper dives into watches themselves is a divergence for me. As a somewhat out of touch armchair critic I obviously dont know what efforts here will improve your business. But please stop doing 'what up whatch fam its x day and today were going to x so lets do it' on every video. You arent the nightly news. Being artful is demanding, but being routine and repetitive in selling luxury items creates an emotional gap.
