What a good kitty! I find stainless steel water fountains and bowls or ceramic bowls best to avoid acne. Avoid all plastics no matter how good they say they are on the box.

It’s not the food, most likely. It’s the dish the food is served in. Plastic is usually the main culprit, but metal can be the issue for a small amount of animals.

I agree. My dog's chin used to be red and angry and as soon as I started washing her plastic dish and her toys each week, that went away.

Try washing and dry the bowl before every meal, change to a glass or porcelain bowl. Plastic, metal, low fired stoneware dish’s all have problems. If it is an allergy, my vet says the dermatitis will show up on the belly also

Thats a common reason yet but saying it's not the food could be untrue. Allergies are also a reason it happens.

Fixed easily with a stainless steel bowl. It’s plastic or ceramic ( with cracks) that causes cat acne.

I got china singles from a thrift store. They're perfect. The bacteria that does gather isn't bad and you can wash them in the dishwasher because $1 for a dish or bowl is pretty good.

If you use a chlorhexidine shampoo and some water, let it sit for 5 mins and then brush, it won't be red raw or painful. Then just wipe away with clean water cotton pad after.

First grab a second soft tooth brush. Put on a pair of sweats.- preferably heavy. Get some Dawn dishwashing soap, cotton balls and apple cider vinegar into the bathroom. Take the cat into a bathroom. Close the door and make sure that the cat can't get out. We the cat's chin with a hot washcloth. Wet the toothbrush in hot water and put a drop of Dawn dishwashing liquid on it. Then start brushing the cat's chin with the tooth brush. Do this for about 10 minutes. Rinse the cat's chin with the hot washcloth. Once it's soap free, put some apple cider vinegar on a cotton ball and clean the cat's chin again. The Dawn dishwashing liquid has very drying qualities and will help the sebaceous oil that is clogging up the cat's pores. The apple cider vinegar has further astringent qualities and will also help. Both are edible so you won't poison the cat.
