Thanks again for finishing the video and giving the Allstate Ag parts for a supplier as I am restoring an Allis Chalmers 5040 and looking for all the information I can find.

I've never had to reline a brake shoe but the shoes I have purchased for trucks always have the rivets recessed. I guess if it's glued as well as rivetted it won't matter when the head of the rivet is worn off?

I'd let them sponsor my channel, but it takes over a week to get stuff from them...lol Smashed a lot of rivets in lining the same way! Just gotta make sure you are on it right and get them tight! Sickle sections 😵 we had 7 sickles for the haybine and 6 for the swather.. did a lot of beating on a chunk of rail road iron!!! Went to the little bolts on the swather, many years after the discbine came to be.. Phone is a great tool!!! You can even take pictures in places you can't see😎 I like that..."I'm feeling a lot better about heading down a hill with a load behind me now"🤣😂 as you have no brake linkage on the tractor... Priceless Pete!! Thanks for the video!!!

Cow Tails must be a local thing, I've never seen them in stores around here. I still have some from my last order. That is how I have riveted new linings for years, never had a problem

Pete, I’ve been a faithful viewer of your videos for several years now. I really enjoy your content and feel that we could be friends if Tennessee and Wisconsin weren’t so darn far apart. I live in a small rural community in East Tennessee near Knoxville. I found your channel by accident when I was searching for combines on KZitem and was wondering if you might consider doing a video on your Allis Chambers 66 all crop combine if you still have it. There’s several around me posted on marketplace, but I know nothing about them and would like to learn from someone who has used them. Not so much looking for a in action video but maybe a walk around. Thanks again for sharing the channel and keep on farming!! Respectfully, James

James, Thank you for the kind words. I'm afraid I don't have the 66 any more, I sold it 3 years ago. The only thing I don't like about them is the canvas that feeds the grain into the machine. My experience is that the grain tends to go up the canvas in bunches instead of feeding constantly and evenly. Now, if you can find an Allis Chalmers 72 combine, they have an auger and feeder housing with a chain instead of the canvas, I bet they would be a lot nicer. Good luck! Pete

Farmer Pete Thank you for your commentary Pete. If possible, could you shoot some video footage of the bale conveyor kicker in your barn when it flips bales off the conveyor to the barn floor. I have always wondered how it works. I feel the chain goes over the top of the flipper instead of under it as flipper and letting the bale ride up on the flipper to push off the bale. I did enjoy your video of the 90 degree bale conveyor. In closing, thanks again for sharing life on your farm. Respectfully, James

It was a fairly involved repair, but you made it look easy! Have you had any issues with it jumping out of gear?
@farmerpete
4 жыл бұрын
This one doesn't jump out of gear. I think the deal is these transmissions will handle use but not abuse. This tractor appears not to have been abused.

How significant are the differences between a 180 and 185?
@farmerpete
Жыл бұрын
The 185 has about 10 more horses. I am unaware of other differences although there may be some.

Nice to see it all together again. Do they make a lower step that makes it easier for older folks to "climb" on and off? Kinda hard on the joints.
@farmerpete

I'm not sure. As it is it's much easier to get on and off than the 1486 or the 450.

I honestly don't know. I ended up with less than $400 worth of parts, I suppose you could double that at a dealership. Of course I'm sure some young mechanic could have done it a lot faster than me :)
