Just a couple of comments. For the rear oil seal, the two felt pieces should be glued into the seal retainers. Allis supplied 3M #847 cement for this purpose. If not glued, they can shift and cause leaks. Also never trim the ends of the felt seals. It may look like you should but resist the temptation. Also there are two little gaskets that look like the letter "F" that go between the block and bearing cap seal retainer right where the ends of the seal halves meet. You will also have a leak without these. Most aftermarket seal kits don't have these but if you get one from Agco, they will be included. I have a picture from the parts book I can share. Finally, I see someone else mentioned it but I would put some disclaimer right in the video that the pistons and rods are assembled incorrectly in the video. If someone watches it but doesn't see the comments and they assemble theirs that way, there will immediately be deep grooves cut into the cylinder sleeves when they try to start the engine.

I Learn so much watching you build this engine up. There’s so much that goes into it I’d never have the nerve to mic everything and bolt it back up. You make it look too easy Jason, you’re gonna be cruising around on that tractor soon man.

Sparks Fire and Baling Wire goin alright brother, getting back to work was a shock to the system after 7 weeks off though lol. Around my house the Truck work is moving slowly, Miller lite consumption is up and everyone’s healthy and happy. Hope you and yours are the same.

Once again I learned a lot from this video. Really goes to show just how important every little detail is. Like the brass shims under the bearing caps for example. Another awesome video Jason, I’m looking forward to the next one!👍

Thanks Cody! It's a learning experience for me too. This is turning out to be a completely different animal from the engines im used to building.

When I did my JD 1020 I was told to use assembly grease, assembly lube or plain oil? Everyone had the best idea. The world is full of experts!!! I used assembly lube, looked like heavy winter chain oil for your power saw. I didn't turn the gas on when I got it ready to start, I wanted to get oil pressure first. I got 25psi just with the starter, then turned the gas and fired it up and got to 65psi. When its warmed up it has 25psi at an idle and 50psi at (540 rpm pto or 2300rpm engine) Yours is looking good, the way your doing things it will be just like new. Keep smiling.

I like using the assembly grease on the bearings because it stays in there until oil pressure flushes it out on fire up. I like dipping the pistons in oil to get the wrist pins lubed. Since the wrist pins rely on splash lubrication, I don't like the grease because it actually prevents oil from spashing in to lube them. Make sense? That's my belief on the matter anyway. As always, thanks for the view and comment!

We've got an engine where the crank gear timing mark is lined up with the cam gear timing mark. In this position of the cam however it is valves closed on cylinder #4, when the #1 valves are close the cam timing mark is 180* the crank mark. Has anyone seen this? perhaps it's not even and issue provided ignition is correct......

Nice catch! I noticed that I had to move the rods to get them to line up with the journals, but had not investigated why. This is turning into an entire different animal from the V8's im used to building. I guess my next video better be about addressing that!

I just didn’t want to see you destroy all those new parts! I have a set of pistons and liners that that happened to. I bought that that way! I just wanted the pistons. The liners were were junk. Pistons I saved but still scared they are now in my dads puller. The as my profile picture. 4.125 M&W pistons are harder to find
