Rode up to Daytona Beach on the Harleys in 1991 and witnessed this rock history. Best of times.

I first heard this rendition of Hoochie Coochie Man on the wireless by the Canadian rock band, Steppenwolf. I bought their debut Selftitled album in 1969 because of that, their signature worldwide hit, " Born to be Wild ". There is an element amiss in this particular vocal delivery of this Allman Brothers Band rendition of Hoochie Coochie Man. In retrospect, Allman Brothers Band, live at the Fillmore East is imbued with so much more depth and feel for the blues. However, this version is strained and lack the emotive differential of John Kays powerful vocal effects. John Kay was and remain always my early and favourite rock band vocalist. Para te 'ika o Tangaroa. ...fish.

Dare I say that between Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, the second generation of the Allman Brothers lived up to the Southern rock standard that Duane and Greg established back in the early 70’s.

Ah, 'the good old days, they just don't make them like that, anymore.' Sorry to clue you in, but they said the same thing about the generation before this one. And the generations before that one as well. So, yeah, they DO have bands and music 'like this' anymore. And they always will.
