what i could infer (black t shirt dude) => good reflexes => good sense/control of spin => good control on the backhand => lazy footwork , could well have him losing against a better opponent => too much sidespin on the forehand => predictable serve

His footwork is very lazy indeed.He should play more forehands crosscourts with hook sidespin,the inside out placement becomes very predictable.

Table tennis is not only about speed and style...it is far more than what you think. ..when ever you meet with a faster player than yourself .tricks and mental power have to be draw in to beat the other player....it is like a chess game ..

I have always liked your BH loop. It is very good in this video too. You do need to make it more difficult for the attacker when you block balls. Too often you blocked balls back to where the ball came from instead of blocking at some awkward angle that would increase the attackers chances of missing or getting a weak return.

nice improvement from the 2nd/3rd on - you are more active against his service and play more agressive. really like how you stick to the table ; ) pretty difficult to defend that one... actually i think u play more variation and better serves. it seems u cannot afford to give any easy presents in ralleys - and fared best with tricky serve + 3rd ball attack : ) needless i might add ur both better than me... ; ) so the last "chase left right advice" will sound a lot "easier said than done" ; ))

its amazing how u can smash with ur hurricane, every time i smash i switch to my bh rubber. Also i brush too much with the hurricane instead of having a balance of hitting and brushing, any tips on that?
@O.ttakyu
8 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you're not generating spin from your legs, if you are brushing too much, that means your stroke is not going forward enough. Try to correct your form by practicing legs and hip movement, remember both legs and hip have to be in sync, your upper body should always be swinging towards the table instead of upwards. Always contact the ball from the top no matter what kind of spin it is (unless you're pushing of course). But the main key is, the more relaxed you are, the more power you can put into the ball.
@hugozhan7493

Thanks, I tried ur advises, especially being more relaxed, and it worked out great, but i have a feeling that my forehand will still be really stiff in tournaments, but at least it's relaxed during practice :)
@O.ttakyu
8 жыл бұрын
yeah it takes a lot of practice, just put your focus more on your legs instead of upper body, keep at it and you will notice the difference. Everybody gets nervous and tend to tense up during tournaments, remember that if you're nervous, your opponent is more nervous than you. One way that I loosen myself up in tournaments is I keep telling myself to just play my game, when its your turn to serve, take your time, breath, get your rhythm back and relax, plan your attack after your serve. Its ok if you miss the first attack, because you will not miss the second attack.

This is what happens to me- too much trying to spin the ball (going up) and not enough going forward. I watch the Chinese videos and their backswing is low with a straight arm, so I figured that is what I need to do, but it just encourages me to swing up on the ball and not forward. What should I do? Do you have a video that would help? Mikael states in his forehand video that on the backswing his hand does not drop below his waist. What do you think?
@O.ttakyu
7 жыл бұрын
When you watch those video, instead of looking at their stroke, try focusing on how they move their body. With backhand loops, you need to put the center of gravity to your left leg (assuming you're right handed), then use your leg and hip to transfer weight to the right side in order to generate power and spin. The key to a forward stroke is in your hips, you cannot do this if your hip is not turning enough. Also try to keep your shoulder and wrist as relaxed as possible (pretend like your arm is a whip). Your paddle should be somewhat open at the point of contact so that the ball will be able to sink in to the blade. This is easier said than done, but when you're practicing, loop the ball slow first, try to get use to this body motion first and get the timing right, then gradually add power. So the key point is relaxation, everything comes from the core of your body. Good luck.

This so called offensive player would get owned by any decent player due to his constant long serves. No short serve in competitive=get owned.
