That is not almost being kidnapped. If he really wanted to kidnap you, what stopped him? The guy just wanted to show you other spots to make you more amaze in order to tip him more. It was kinda weird how he did it but I am sure if he wanted to kidnap you he would have. Jamaica is not known for kidnapping tourists. They try to sell you "the stuff" but they rarely ever do anything to tourists.

Josh, my husband & I follow your vlogs faithfully. We love to cruise as well... However, for U to tittle this "Almost kidnapped in Jamaica" with a picture of this man being the description of the video is simply irresponsible & WRONG. Yes, he wanted to make more money from U. This is his JOB. These people already get a bad stereotype simply because they are people of color that live where they live. U have labeled this man a kidnapper when U have no clue who this man really is. From the video it seems like he's trying to hustle U out of more money. This is to be expected!! I would do the same if I had to provide for myself/family on an island that is rich but only benefits the people who rob them of their natural resources... Anyway, this is very irresponsible of U & I hope you're truly not "afraid" for the wrong reasons. Be Blessed.💛

I've been to Jamaica on several occasions and Blue Hole twice now and never ever experienced anything like this. This was clearly click bait and as an avid traveler I know how much reviews like these means to these people's livelihoods. I was in Jamaica in September. My husband, two children and myself were at the beach having a great time. I began to notice that security was watching me. Eventually one of them approaches me and tells me that I’m very beautiful and my husband is a very lucky man. About an hour later 3 women that were serving alcohol approached me. They went on to tell me they could get me and my family a deal on a hotel if we stayed and didn’t get back on our ship as we should see more of Jamaica. Of course I declined! I started to feel uneasy so I told my husband let’s get the kids and head for the ship. As we’re leaving, security stops me and tells my husband that they’re taking me to jail. My husband laughed and said, “Now why would you do that to an innocent lady?” He said she staying because she’s beautiful. We said nothing afterwards and proceeded to walk away and he followed us to the exit of the beach. He didn’t exit the beach with us but continued to watch me as we waited for or ride back to the ship. I’ve never been more afraid for my life that that day!!!

He was joking. You have to understand two things. 1. Jamaica is one of the biggest destination for sex tourism. 2. We are cultural more forward with hitting on people. The American way isnt the only way. Also note, it is normal for us to ask for money (tips) or to hit on people.

I was an exchange student for a year in Jamaica in the 1990s. This type of behavior is so typical. Anyone who smiles at you in public and tries to help you, or show you something is just out for money. After catching on to this racket, and after living there for over a month if someone came up to me on the street that was friendly, my response was "sorry I don't have any money", and then they would immediately move on. When he got in your face he was just trying to intimidate you, I'm willing to bet it was nothing more. It is really a beautiful island but I have no desire to visit Jamaica again.

I was standing on the side and he came to me very angry and ask for his tip. Since i'm also from the caribbean i gave him attitude back and show him im not afraid. i gave him a dollar. He was so angry I told him you shouldn't get anything from me because you didn't help me nor my mother, He was eager helping those with cameras as they will tip him better maybe. So he denied the dollar bill and i told him you wont get nothing more. I swear if he could slap he probably will have done it. But I was so angry too and didn't care. Luckily we went rivertubbing after that and these guides were so helpfull. so they got all the tips :) I swear i will not go back to Jamaica. But I loved the river tubing!!! We felt like we were being held hostage. We finally got off and the driver kept trying to tell us we wouldn't be able to find a ride back to the ship unless we paid him and he would come back for us. Back in our younger and stupider days, my wife and I went to buy some cigars off a guy when we were in Cuba. The guy brought us back to his house and motioned us inside. I handed my backpack to my wife in case he tried anything and we went in. We bought the cigars and nothing happened, but when I thought about it afterwards, I kicked myself for being so careless. The cigars had all the proper stickers, so we probably bought good fakes, or stolen cigars. Live and learn. Never did that again.

@@carolyngardner4999 of course I'm not saying that things can't happen on a ships Shore Excursion. But I am saying in countries with a high crime rate or a reputation for harassing tourists, being on a ship Shore Excursion is another layer of safety. And if for any reason you are left behind on a ship Shore Excursion it's on their dime to put you up in a hotel and get you to an airport and get you back to the ship or back to your home Port. They dont do that for private shore excursions. But whether we are on a private Shore Excursion or a ship Shore Excursion it's up to us to protect ourselves. We always need to be aware of our surroundings and the people around us.
