The reason for the 27,2 scale length on the 8th string is probably because they use a 25,5 -27 fan on their multiscale 7 strings, so instead of having a different fan for the 8 strings, they just add an extra string and we get the 27,2.

It would be cool if you have a quick 10-15 second rundown of your signal chain before the demo mix. It’d be helpful to know if this is using mostly plugins or with a mic’d amp. My assumption is DI and using a Neural DSP plug-in because that’s the gold standard nowadays but I never know and again, is just an assumption.

Fact to note that I think was slightly overlooked and is pretty nice. The bridge is not just a standard hipshot-type bridge, its a mono rail.. In my opinion, the RGD/MS truly shine the most when it comes to that affordable ease of access to intonation on a multi-scale/fixed bridge. It also allows for a very sleek and comfortable palm muting position without feeling anything dig into your palm (small screws etc.) I think the 7 version is a good competitor for the pricier and hyped MHS7, was thinking of getting one and then fixated on the RGD7ALMS.

To be honest, if I were to get an 8 string, this would be it for the price and what it comes with but there’s something about 9 strings that I love, even if I’m playing a traditional 8 string tuning. I actually put my first Kiesel 9 string build this year. And if I’m shredding, the good ol ibanez Xiphos 6 string has kiesel mounted pick ups (empyrean neck, thorium bridge). Awesome 8 from ibanez though.

That's always just part of it. Even Prestiges have QC issues from time to time. Indonesian guitars used to be notoriously bad, but the QC has massively improved over the years. Would I pay the price listed for this guitar that's Indonesian made? Absolutely. Anything more than $2k? Probably not, there's a lot you can get for that price made in the U.S. or Japan. Definitely a fan of sweetwater as being from the UK it works out surprisingly cheaper ordering from them than from a UK guitar store, that's including shipping. THough I have only ever ordered pickups from sweetwater so far. Though hopefully another guitar this year, I'm thinking either the ESP LTD SN-1007HT BARITONE or TE-1000 both are my favourite finish of black blast which is one of the reasons why I want them.

I used Dimarzio Diactivator 8 string pickup in the bridge of my RGMS8 and it works well. I used a sheet of fibreglass to make a custom base shaped like the stock pickup and screwed the Dimarzio bobbins to the new base. Doesn't line up perfectly with the strings, but sound 500% better than the stock pickups. Ive got 2 Ibanez 8 strings, both came with floppy thin gauge strings. Couldn't even avoid fret buzz at stock tuning if you used a feather as a pick.

Almost perfect. It has golden hardware (not to my liking at all), and 9-string pickup format can be a bit of an issue if, for some reason, you'd have to change them. I guess the 8-string soapbar format with rail magnets should do the job. I'd also bump up the longer scale to 28". That said, one of my 8 is a 25.5"/27" multiscale and is awesome that way.

The fretboard is the same fretboard they use on non multiscale 27” 8strings. Ibanez mass produced the necks separately and don’t necessarily build neck to suit. All they do is pop in the fanned frets and paint the headstock otherwise this same neck is probably in almost all of their RGD8’s. It is a cost saving measure by mass producing the necks and then just painting & finish and fretting to suit the model in particular.

This guitar is a total failure. Why are you asking? The multiscale solution at the 12th fret is the worst possible option, the better option is the 7th fret or how esp did it at the 5th fret. The multiscale center at the 5th fret is the most ergonomic option in my opinion. In addition, the pickup from the 9 string guitar is too big and disturbs the playing terribly. Here again see the model from Esp ltd M-1008 MS, couldn't it fit so nicely? You can see that the film is sponsored. Almost perfect you say? Seriously? Such a talented guitarist would play such a poorly designed guitar? Better try esp model and maybe do a video about it.
