Hannes and Floor are working at home with limited video equipment so they're doing multiple takes and splicing them together in post. That results in small sync issues showing up here and there. The important thing to understand is that she is singing on all takes, otherwise the syncing up process would get very tedious. I think they're working with only one camera and using multiple takes. The pianist is Joost Van Den Broek who she has worked with in her early band.

I’ve listened to this song for years (I’m an 80s guy ) ...even in the After Forever version the emotion in this is so much more. You can really hear the longing and almost desperation in her voice that the lyrics convey. Her vocal control is the most impressive thing for me ...she can keep everything on pitch even at end of long runs with both high and low notes. And yes, Joost’s piano work is absolutely stunning. The basic difference between this version and Heart's version is the fact that this version is stripped down to the piano and voice. Heart's version is much closer to the original, done is a power ballad style. Ann changed up some of the phrasing in the pre-chorus. Floor takes Ann's phrasing, and she and Joost just perform the most basic interpretation you could imagine. If you did it with acoustic guitar, I don't think you'd get the same effect or emotion from it. The arrangement is amazing, the performances are stunning, and I can't hear it too many times.

@@robertkennedy5414 What about Hearts 2016 Royal Albert Hall version? Well it's stripped down to piano/voice as well, and 2007 acoustic live was stripped down to acoustic guitar/vocals. I'm going to say it again, but it is the linguist in her that keeps that emotional performance level so high because the delivery of each and every lyric is so DETAILED. She is so disciplined with every word, not just every note; English just being one of so many languages she can sing in (alongside her speaking language prowess: her Finnish improving all the time I'm sure, some German, I think some Spanish or Italian from school but don't know which it would be (?) Then English, Swedish from childhood, right. But as a classical singer, she will have sung in English, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian and French since singing the great arias by Mozart, Rossini, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Puccini, Verdi, Wagner. Sorry I'm whittering. I mean. Classically trained singers spend all day making people cry at the opera as they listen to music in a language they often dont speak. Its hardly surprising Floor has taken us to new dimensions with a song we know well, she is such an articulate magical and natural storyteller when she sings. The rest of the world disappears.

I don't know what people are talking about with the "soft vocals" on the last one. Maybe it's because I always listen with headphones, but it sounds great to me. @@ChrisPage68 That's true. Another interesting fact is that it was written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. You can search for their credits on wikipedia, it's HUGE.

You really need to react to Moriah Formica's version of "Always"! She is one of the top rock vocalists out right now that will be known worldwide in the next year. Her version is as good as if not better than the (Bon Jovi) original and would love to see your analysis of her performance.

If I remember the pianist is/was Joost van den Broek? From Ayreon?

Knowing floor a bit, the audio of this video recording would already be amazing enough... And I think Joost is busy with Ayreon in the Netherlands and probably not allowed to travel to Sweden.

This is the first time for me, that Floor isnt outperforming the original singer. (eventho if i recall correctly, the version by Heart is a cover as well? pretty sure it is.) Now dont get me wrong here, i love what she does in her version, and the key here is HER version, its very different from Ann Wilson's but it is absolutely on par with the version by Heart, with ease. It's more that i want to point out that Floor's version is as good as that of Ann, being a more stripped down version really works well for this song too. And in the same line of thinking, to me it shows also how good Ann is, ofc we all know that already but i'm just happy to see that Floor isnt destroying the original singer here hehehe (like she usually does) So.. in short, anything Floor touches turns to gold, but this time the song she touched was gold already and you cant make gold even... golder? if you catch my drift :) Again, dont get me wrong here, i adore what Floor does here, actually.. whatever she does i do adore so i am not even remotely critiquing her or claiming its not a great cover... it absolutely is a great cover and Floor again proves she can make any song her own. But Ann cannot be ignored here, she too is an absolute vocal powerhouse and one of the few who i feel is as vocally strong as Floor is. Tnx for the lovely react Christi, its always a joy to see you react to singers of Floor's caliber :)

Why does everybody always talk about a "stripped down" performance? Heart performed it this way as mellow ballad for years, just check the 2007 acoustic live (with guitars) or 2016 Royal Albert Hall (with keyboard, almost exactly like Floors) versions ;) And don't forget that Ann, when performing at Royal Albert Hall was almost 70 years old - and still hits those notes ♥

@@alexiserni1152 I had not seen those performances you mention, only know a few live versions that are more or less the same version as that of the studio release. Therefor i mentioned it being stripped down, which isnt a bad thing at all :) And yes, Ann is phenomenal, especially if you take her age in account and realize she still can do what she could do when she was 25, she took great care of her voice over the years for sure. I love what Floor does in this and i love what Ann does. Just happy to see Floor not outperforming someone for once hehehe (on par with Ann, not lesser or better, just as good in her own way). But like i said, i didnt know Heart performed this song in a stripped down version as well, otherwise i had mentioned Floor's performance being similar to either of those you mentioned :)

She is seated. Remember, she is probably taller seated in that chair than you are standing. And the mic is doing some work here too. That's why her mouth is about 12 -16 inches away from the mic. Her minimum air pressure due to her immense physicality is 5 - 10 times the average female vocalist. She dose not need the level of control and training that most would require to reach her output level and quality. She is a natural born Valkyrie! There are plenty of people with her genetics from her region, but not too many pursue being a trained vocalist/performer. Her closest equal may perhaps be Amy Lee from Evenescense.
