Good to see that they were treated humanely, totally unlike those horrible videos I saw by PETA, where those farmers in Peru so cruelly treated the alpacas where they yanked, scremed and vomited during the whole process.

Not sure it is necessary to tight them like Atahualpa, they can be pet in the outdoors unlike vicuñas who are wild.

+Ceyda Zazoglu then why did you click to view the video? sheep, alpacas and angora goats need to have their hair clipped or sheared. If you don't their coats become matted and overgrown which can be uncomfortable to them. Kinf of like poodles. These alpacas look well taken care of. Also if you think"ugh why do they tie them down like that" because if they don't they move around and can hurt themselves.

+Ceyda Zazoglu I wish ours would stand but they do not and would get severely hurt if they did not handle them like in this video. The first time I took my alpacas to the CSU vet teaching hospital for shearing day. I could not watch because I thought it was cruel. I am ok with it now and wish there was a safer way but there is not. I think it depends on how they were raised. Ours came out of a herd and this is the only way. These people know what they are doing.. the alpacas get up and are fine. It is imperative for them to get sheared for their comfort and health. Sharing for another point of view.

The way they treated the alpacas was so rude and aggressive. Clearly, the animals were very uncomfortable. Not only that, it's also so unnecessary to remove something that belongs to the animal. Definitely, we humans have to learn that animals are not our slaves and leave them alone.
@ellieswisher

If they were ‘left alone’ they would die. 🥺 The hair will continue to grow on the animal until cut. At a certain length it is cumbersome and they can’t move. They’ll likely die from the heat in the summer if it’s not shaved down. So the llamas get a hair cut no matter what for their own safety and well-being! The hair would just be thrown away if they didn’t repurpose it into yarn ☺️ working with animals is tricky because they don’t understand what is going on and will likely hurt themselves or someone else from fear of something that won’t actually hurt them. So they are tied down and held in place to ensure everyone’s safety. They’re very strong so it has to be done firmly. It doesn’t hurt them at all and ensures it’s over before much stress is caused. Then they run off happily with obvious joy that the burdensome, hot weight is gone!

Hmmm....looking to buy a new quilt, it was suggested to buy an Alpacca fleece quilt, but after watching this video, NO thanks, I couldn't bear to think the stress the Alpacca's went though just so I can keep warm, I'll look for another alternative.

Not as cruel as letting them die from heat stroke from the wool and infection from ingrown toenail. They are being as gentle and safe as possible.

Nothing cruel here. They are protected from injury and get scratches and treats. The better the care for the animal the better the wool.

@@carolgoulart9759 You clearly don't know how to properly care for an animal. If you don't take care of the wool it becomes very uncomfortable for the animal and makes them prone to infections. Please just shut up. Why click on a video like this? People like you just like coming to these videos so you can complain in the comment section. Go do something constructive.
