The Briggs Estate was originally built in the early 1900’s for George and Effie Briggs as the most prominent house in the Fair Oaks neighborhood. George Briggs was a notable businessman, president of Lexington Lumber, and son of Ma Governor George N Briggs. The house was designed by well-known MIT architect and author Willard D. Brown, also a Lexington resident. In the early 1900’s Mr. Brown designed distinguished Lexington buildings such as the Cary Memorial Library and the homes of other prominent residents including philanthropist Josiah Willard Hayden.
This historical landmark will be meticulously restored and updated to 21st century environmentally friendly and efficiency standards.
Thoughtfully designed spaces, systems, and materials created not to impress, but to make you happy. alpha echo’s ethos starts with efficiency of space, quality over quantity. Every inch of our designs has a fulltime purpose, simplicity, and geometric clarity. Spaces are integrated, large and open, full of light with consistent oversized doors and windows, generous ceiling heights and minimal use of dedicated hallways.
