On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, four F/A-18 fighter jets will land and take off on the A1 motorway between Payerne and Avenche. After taking off from the military airfield in Payerne, the fighter jet flew a training mission lasting a little over an hour before landing on the motorway. Later, three more fighter jets will also land on the A1. After landing, the fighter jets were prepared for takeoff again, which included refueling the aircraft. The second part of the exercise, taking off, has also proceeded without problems so far. Three of the four fighter jets are currently in the air. As part of the military exercise "Alpha Uno," the army is testing its decentralization capabilities. This refers to the ability to distribute people and materials across the country in a very short time. For the exercise, the motorway section in Vaud has been closed since Tuesday evening.
