Thanks a Million Grove! I love that album I recorded with pianist Rodney Franklin. Stanley Clarke produced it and played on it as well.

Enjoyed seeing you at Scullers years ago and speaking with you afterwards. Such a rare treat to be in such an intimate club and witness your expressive creativity. My wife and I will always remember that night. You wove structure and expression into an emotional sculpture that hung in the air like fine wine clinging to a crystal glass. Thank you.

Alphonse, your drumming on the piece, Genesis, on Rodney Franklin's "Learning to Love" LP, is the most extraordinary and riveting thing I have ever heard on drums. I have listened to that for over 20 years and it still blows me away...a stunning accomplishment.

Maybe I'll send this to some of my drum students and tell them you're reading the solo off those pages (ha, ha). I saw you almost knocked the chart over with your hi-hats but then you moved them. Love the solo and choice of drums and cymbals. That one to your right that you use to crash is killer. Has there been any colaborations with you and either Cobham or Narada Michael Waldon? Each unique but with similar styles and drum sounds. Three of my favorite fusion drummers. Lenny White too.

Although a few years younger than Cobham, the late great Mr. Alphonse Mouzon was very popular when Cobham began his career. Interestingly, they both influenced the great Vinnie Colaiuta😀

Its the same kind of deal with James brown and Wilson pickett . They came out at the exact same time. like twins but within their own distinctive style . Its a bit weird to me Alphonse i think had a more raw funk and primitive punky hard edge , agression in his playing than Cobham Both were highly inventive , could swing , play single and double bass drums ...
