Great educational video on the Aplicool C15 cooler. Like most coolers either electric or plain coolers, the lid is hollow and has no insulation, just a good sealing gasket. I drilled 4 1/4 inch holes and filled the lid with expanding foam from a hardware store. This simple measure increases the cooler’s efficiency whether electric or an icebox.

I just bought an Alpicool LG t50 in June 2021. By July 2021 I started having issues and settings of temperature wouldn't work. I played with some of the 'hidden settings' and made it even worse. I couldn't find any info anywhere about these settings for the t50. I just found your video and have only gone half way through, to the PDF. I printed out that, and did the hard reset. It seems to have done the trick of resetting my t50 to factory settings and I'm now testing it. Thank you so much! Please add this video with more headings so it is easier to find. I am so relieved as I have read so many negative reviews recently, and the info that comes with the unit is limited and confusing. I assume most of the settings are the same,, although the t50 does have more than your sheet has. Thanks again.

I've had my alpicool C15 for a few years now and here is some of the things I've discovered. When I was running it in my Subaru Outback camper, I was powering it with a solar charged 35 amp hour battery. Generally it would never draw the battery below 50% during a period of 10 hours during the night in winter. I usually had it set at about 35 degrees Fahrenheit in the Box. Generally it would cycle every 15 minutes and run for 5 minutes. The temperature difference comes from it measuring the temperature at the condenser and not the Box. Of course there is a discrepancy, but for me it's not a big issue. Currently I utilize the C15 as a freezer, and an alpicool CX 40 as my refrigerator in my 6 by 10 cargo trailer conversion while work camping here in South Lake Tahoe. I honestly think the alpicool products are the best bang for your buck.

Hi, great video, but I think your assumption of the temperature compensation is incorrect as well as the "7C" in the document, it should say "-7C" in the E6 row (or -6C for the newer models and the bluetooth app). The ranges are not for how many degree it is off by. It's for what temperature you set the fridge at. For example, if you usually set the temperature above -7C, then you should use E6 to set the temp comp. If you set your temperature somewhere between -7C and -12C then you use E7, and if you use your fridge for deep freeze below -13C then you use E8. That's it, so for example, if you set your fridge to freeze at -10C and it's off by just one degree, you should still use E7, because that is the range at which that compensation will kick in. This is because the ranges are so large that it might need different compensation settings for each temperature range (for example, it might be off by two degree when in slight cool mode, off by 5 degrees in freeze mode , or off by 7 degrees in deep freeze mode). Sorry for such a long comment.

Curate Adventure Yes I did, I received it a few days ago, so far so good. It freezes pretty well on low power. Only small issue is that I've noticed something on the inside rattles when I shake it. Does yours make a noise when you move it around? I read a few other reviews on Amazon stating the same. I don't think it's anything too serious though, should hopefully last a few years.

Hey H2O, thanks for the comment. The Alpicool is definitely a cheaper alternative to Dometic (they make some thermoelectric BS coolers that are close in price, but the compressor Dometics are at least double). It all seems to be digital issues. If you use the display as a very very broad guide to the temp setting, and then get a cheap in / out thermometer you should be all set. I would also suggest insulating the lid exterior which can be done by trimming the include packing foam (see my other Alpicool video). How you have an Awesome road trip to Oregon!

Hi, I just was gifted a 15L Alpicool, and I am losing my mind trying to set the temperature. It seems that no matter what I press, it just doesn't take, or it sets kind of randomly, so I can't recreate what I did, or change it further. I don't understand what the E1, E2 and E3 settings even mean. I was able to change the setting from C to F (yay me) but after that, I'm totally lost. At first it was cooling down to the point it was freezing stuff inside (like cole slaw and guacamole), and after fiddling around with it for over an hour, and another couple hours this evening (seriously) it appears that I got it to stop "heating up" at 50, but I'm going to get food poisoning if I don't get this thing under control. I ended up doing a factory reset thanks to your chart, hoping that might clear things out a bit and let me start over. Could you or someone please, please make the terms idiot simple? For example, E1 Lowest temperature setting--do I want to use this setting to set the temp to 42 or 40 F?? Or do I use E2? And what does E3 even mean? What is a temperature return? This is eating up hours and making my fingers very tired, mashing buttons that flash info and then revert to whatever they think they were set to. If I press SET and see E1, then I should be able to go to the up/down arrows to set the temperature, right?? But what locks that in? Nothing that I am trying seems to actually SET anything. HELP and Thanks in Advance!!!

Notwithstanding the inaccuracy of the digital read out, if set on the lowest temperature setting, will it maintain a sustained sub zero temperature?
@gsonei
5 жыл бұрын
Hi DL Mac, thanks for the comment. Yes, I believe the C15/20 is capable of freezing, and maintaining sub zero temps. My C15 has no trouble maintaining -6F. That said, freezing versus keeping frozen are slightly different answers. The C15 really has to work to freeze items that are room temp. Check out my other video where I attempt to freeze 2 gallons of water in a moose bag. It will freeze room temp items, but it's going to take a bit of time. If you put things that are already frozen into the C15, it's no issue keeping them consistently frozen. If you buy one from Amazon, I would suggest running the heck out of it during the return window. The after sale support from Alpicool is very questionable.

Did you figure it out? My marine deep cycle battery keeps dying and it should not, it should last up to three days. I have my C20 on ECO L. I just figured out a bit the H3 is better for battery preservation. I am not sure if the E3 may solve the problem.

I am wondering if this unit would tolerate 18v 6a (max) input directly from my 200 Watt solar panel / 20a solar charger (no battery)? I can otherwise do dc-dc step down from 18v to 12. I'm only interest in running it from direct solar and it will hopefully freeze everything up and then sit closed overnight.. anybody try? Just need to keep some milk and cheese good in Florida summer.

NoSunBeach have you tried it out with that method? I would like to power it with solar and a battery. Do you think a 100 watt panel would be enough? I think the power consumption is 45 watts when it is on

Someone gifted me this unit just over 2 years ago. Once I got the temperature figured out, I've left it alone and been thankful for it every day. However, it seems to have suddenly quit running. I used to hear or feel the compressor shut off, but now I just have a digital display (thankful it's cold weather) showing me it's about 42F but things are not cold in the box. I unplugged it a couple times, vacuumed what appear to be vents, but nothing. Anyone know if compressors or other parts go out on these units? If so, how expensive or difficult to repair? Is it better to just replace? Thanks!!

Cooling fins become dusty I took off the went cover cleaned it with new paint brush. Plus I noticed was rusting. So I rust converted it. Then repeated with black paint. I also added a external cooling fan. It's hot here in the Philippines

Curate Adventure so far so good, the size difference seems huge. I’ve got it in use as a freezer on a food truck for keeping ice cream frozen. Chest freezers are just too big... these don’t get cold enough to deep freeze the ice cream but if I deep freeze ahead of time and put in cooler, it will keep it solid all day. I was thinking I could find a way to get it to maintain a colder temp. Not yet... temp reading is way off. I’ve returned the smaller one due to continued F4 errors...
@gsonei
6 жыл бұрын
Nice! Yeah i have seen F4 errors on my C15, but only when used in my vehicle, and they seem to occur when I start or stop the engine with the unit powered on. My outlets are always hot, but I think the voltage fluctuates / cuts out for a second, long enough to scramble the C15 electronics. If I was using it for a more permanent applications it would be a big issue.
@prestostrangeo

Curate Adventure so, overnight I placed the cooler in an insulated cooler bag, like a food delivery bag, cut holes for the fans to keep the compressor cool and set the temp to -20f When I checked it this morning the internal temp was -8 and the reading was -18. So it definitely needs to be better insulated to keep subzero temps. But it’s totally capable... I imagine the c15 would fit nicely in an insulated bag.

“Low drain” as in low amp consumption or what do you refer to?
@gsonei
5 жыл бұрын
@@SailingMissLoneStar Yes, low drain compared other 12v fridge like some of the Dometic's. Here's some stats on the consumption (these are not mine but from another reviewer) from a 12v deep-cycle battery that is kept charged by a 100w solar panel system. There is an abundance of power for this fridge. It draws ~2.5amp on "Eco" and ~3.5amp on "Hi"cool. Start-up amperage is ~3.5/~4 : eco/hi.
