At the very least, they actually put proper artifact sets on trial characters now and give decent assisting characters I remember when they slapped noblesse on everyone, unless it was a healer it was maiden's, absolutely no exception And all assisting characters were one or more of: amber, kaeya, Lisa and Barbara No exception Hu tao for example would be given noblesse and be paired with Barbara and/or Lisa with maiden's and noblesse respectively

To explain why they built it, it was because so many people were complaining since 1.0 about not having enough endgame content. So it's essentially filler to appease the loud minority for a little bit.

Genshin hates coop. Want play quests while having fun with ur friends? Nope. Its not allowed. Want explore and do puzzles with yr friends? Nope, some puzzles just disappear when you open multiplayer/ or you just cant finish it. Fine, what about doing events together? Nope, 1 of 10 events are coop allowed. Yet, it usually lasts just about 10minutes to complete the entire event in coop. What about trying abbys? Certainly not, never. This new Theater mode? Nope, not even planned on it. Okauy But .. domains and TCG? Yes that you can. ONLY. Ffs there's legit no real reasons to make an multiplayer game that doesn't allow you play together with your friends.

I was only able to clear the easy mode because I only have 3 characters with an okay-ish build. It’s hard to do anything with a team of lvl. 60 artifactless Sayu, Dehya and Lisa. I’m really sad this could be a really fun thing with a few changes.

haha, that's what I thought too. Are we playing the same game here? Especially since even after 3 years. I don't have many of the characters and therefore don't know them. I find this anything but easy. Especially with the time limit. And I don't have any blatant artifacts on my chars either, because since I've been playing I've really only been picking up garbage from the domains.

Labyrinth warriors is literally from Elysian Realm from Honkai Impact, and Genshin's roster was designed mainly around similar timeframe of 1-2 years since before Sumeru even released, Genshin's system is definitely out of date and used to have perfect point to build Endgame based of said mode, Imaginary Theater feels off since it would goes on twice usage limits, unless you're lucky with restoring chances to out of stage characters (meanwhile Labyrinth Warriors scales very well with the current character roster's limitations)

The only one that I have available on each elements: Geo - Morax. Dendro - Nahida. Cryo - Qiqi. While other Elements have 2 and more: Anemo - Kazuha, Jean, Scara. Hydro - Mona, Childe, Nuevillette. Pyro - Dehya, Hu Tao. Electro - Keqing, Raiden, Miko, Cyno.

That’s a very good point! Also there isn’t weekly limit on ascension material except for weekly bosses. In Genshin it’s like oh no it’s Wednesday I can’t get those materials I need until Friday but I’m busy Friday

@@rosielundberg Yeah, but in Star Rail you can fight the same boss 3 times each week instead of it being limited to one reward for each boss. Which is so annoying when you only need mats from the new boss. Oh, you want to level up Arlecchino and need a ton of her boss drops? Too bad, you can only fight her once per week. Also being able to farm talent/weapon mats on any day of the week is so much better. I have no idea why Genshin restricts it. It's so stupid.

I know there are many people who don't like DU but it's so fun to me. Like, I get to play absolutely nonsensical teams just for lulz. I get to test characters I otherwise wouldn't build. I getto try so many different things. Other SU modes too, you can abuse the paths mechanics so much and completely change the combat style. And if you fail, well, you've still progressed on the skill tree so it will be a little easier next time. AND NO TIME GATE.

It's just so damn restrictive. Getting 18 characters to level 70 is a massive undertaking (resources wise) but, that's not enough to do this game mode. It has to be 18 characters of the elements needed. And then after ALL that work, it's just disappointing gameplay. I was hyped for it. Now it's just meh.

That's the whole point. Theater is a carefree alternative to the abyss. Gives you a reason to build more characters (the ones you like, not the ones that are meta), and put them to good use without minmaxing and learning rotations.

@@AroNekoArts No, they're not, just don't play the Imaginarium Theatre mode unless you get lucky with the characters. It's not that hard. No one is forcing you to do anything. Edit: You may have the option to build those characters up but you don't have to because endgame content isn't required to finish the game. Therefore you don't need to play it at all. Everything is up to personal preference: If you know it resets and you don't really like the characters, why would you build them? You already know it resets so you know you don't have to. If you enjoy it play it, if you don't enjoy it, don't play it. It's that simple.

Everything is free yes but there is always a reason why you don't like stuff and why you like stuff. Like no one forces you to work you basically can become a homeless or be a junkie but in context you need work to own a place to life now you got a free choices influenced by "reasons". I guess you just really young or lacking the understanding of simple "reasoning". "Endgame isn't required to finish the game" totally agree but endgame can and should be playable without those issues. If you don't participate in endgame, you won't become homeless or a junkie. The video game is not real life so you can't equate to real life situations. The fact you're equating things from a videogame to real world issues is interesting to say the least. Edit: Also I never said to ignore issues, I simply said that if you cannot play it, just don't. The primary issue with IT isnt in any of the specific mechanics, but instead because this game mode was never designed with player enjoyment or engagement as a priority- it was built for the sole purpose of pressuring players to invest horizontally because it has become to easy to buy a couple OP units and/or constellations and win the game every two weeks in abyss. Every aspect of IT is maximized towards this goal- dont have enough characters? Better roll on some more banners to fill out your roster, and maybe lose your pity to a 5* you didnt want. Cant just have *enough* characters, you need to have a lot in every element and yes that includes the elements that suck(not current IT, but soon) Make sure you buy BP and maybe do some resin refreshes to get these characters built and you better build all of them well, because you dont know which characters you will get. I really like the idea of having a reason to use the forgotten chars, and as a non whale 8 month old acct I was able to clear it all just under 15mins(despite being a dendro/hydro based acct) but this was the actual worst way to go about it. There is so much they could do with Genshin, but the only "endgame" mode we get after these years is just another money extraction method for Hoyo. Disgusting. On the flip side, Wuwa's illusory realm lets us learn new characters with great depth(granted, inflated by buffs), is actually fun, does not require us to build the characters ourselves but does let us use our own if we prefer, offers a ton of rewards, and seems to exist for no reason other than to give players something fun and engaging but not too serious to do. I don't know how y'all cleared it. I got so bored with it. I got through Act 4 on my first try, but I didn't know what I was doing and ran out of playable characters. It couldn't end fast enough because I wanted to go play Firefly in HSR and everything in Wuthering Waves. If their goal here is to get you to build pointless and unpopular characters, I'm gonna have to pass because of how freaking hard they make it to build any single character. They could be so much more generous with their rewards from every single Domain in the game, but they aren't. At first, I didn't mind because I was new to the game and just accepted how it was. But now, I actually kind of almost dread getting a new character in Genshin just because of how much of a pain in the butt it is to fully build them with all talents, a new set of gear, leveling up their weapon, and the character level. It takes so dang long if you're not a whale and you didn't pre-farm.

Obviously I dont know what happens in Hoyo but some thoughts on perhaps why- If they made a habit of putting the 4 stars you need on banner along with IT, then people might just procrastinate and expect to pull on the banners when the new IT is out. If instead they dont put them on banner, then that can create FOMO in players going forward, believing that they need to get as many 4* as possible so they dont miss out on the next IT. It sounds convoluted but FOMO is a big part of gacha :/ Furina sells her banner so hard that putting useful 4* on it is like just giving them away. ...buuut they could have just run her banner earlier or IT later so I dont think this one counts for anything. We dont know 4.8 phase 1's 4 stars yet, they might be fit to this IT. I could even imagine it being very likely now since pushback on IT was big enough for Hoyo to officially address it. Putting out great 4* for this IT could reduce the heat a bit but we will see in a few days ^^ Xiangling and Fischl are in the starglitter shop atm. Compelling newish players to spend on those leaves them with less pulls for the amazing five stars coming up in the next couple months which is also a win. Especially both of them being among the few good sub dps available for this IT. Xiangling is free, but that c4 so big. There is also the possibility that IT was rushed and poorly thought out- its reception does seem to suggest that at least a little 😅 Maybe its some or none of these. I stand by my theory only because no other explaination makes sense. Older players will clear this easier than abyss while being annoyed at wasting time to shift weapons and artifacts(artifact loadouts when), while also losing half of the abyss lockouts that let them flex their teams and verticle investment. Newer players have an easier time pulling a couple power units and completing abyss. Not only for lack for total # of characters and weapons, but also the lack of resin to build then. They can do lower difficulties of IT, but if this was really about newer players having fun and content then they would have made a full roster of basic trial characters available as an option. imo IT is just an alteration to the carrot that spiral abyss once presented but no longer sufficiently functions as on its own. "invest" in your account so you can get all the "free" primogems💰

I have a friend who is a 1.0 player, a lore enjoyer, has just about every character in the game (most of them at least semi-built) AND doesn't enjoy abyss because she finds it too stressful (i've been clearing it for her for months). I was sure she was the literal intended target audience for the Theater until she played through the thing and literally called it "not as interesting as abyss". It is so joever.

This gamemode is just a peak display of disconnect between the Genshin devs and it's community, they had Labyrinth Warriors, event of which many consider it PEAK and yet they chose what is apparently a rehash of an event that most people didn't even like and I myself cannot even remember it, they've worked with this game almost 4 years and collected data and yet they somehow managed to fail miserably at all aspects, quite arguably the biggest L Genshin has had since 1.1 Zhongli

ME, it's made for me. It's exactly the kind of endgame I was hoping for. Something that isn't just a dps check but rather something that tests your team building skills and reactions skills. Don't have the perfect team for this challenge? You gotta deal with it and make it work the best you can. It forces you to go back and play the game like you did at the start. Relying solely on the reactions. Need to apply pyro? Pull out Amber and shoot the enemy then overload it with Lisa for maximum damage. That's what it used to be like and is what this game mode is shooting for.

Hoyo LOVES putting stuff into the game that makes you do everything BUT playing the game. They really think its fun for some reason. I hate the theater for 4 reasons. THE FOUR MISSING ELEMENTS. I have 12 characters fully built, but I could get 18 to level 70 and at least 14 with artifacts. EXCEPT THEY HAVE BANNED HYDRO, DENDRO, GEO, AND CRYO. Brother I built, Neuvillette, Furina, Xingqiu Nahida, Dendro trav, Ayaka, Navia, Noelle, Mona, And Chiori. Don't even get me started on artifact THEY FUCKING SHARE THEM. Hu Tao, Yoimiya, Yanfei, gaming, and xiangling? All shared (minus sands since HP% and atk%) Ayaka and Navia? The theater was a trap made by Hoyo to encourage people to pull for more new characters. Reason: You never know which element is going to get restricted, and if you have a deficit in said element then you are screwed. So its a trap to incentivize more casual + early-mid players to pull for as many characters as possible in order to take part in theatre. The spiral abyss rewarded vertical investment, so players would usually build towards 2 good teams then save primos for a character they really liked, which of course was hurting Mihoyo's bottom line. Basically if Mihoyo actually cared about players, they would have just developed a popular past combat event (e.g. Labyrinth Warriors) and made it into an end game. Instead, they created another end game to manipulate people via FOMO, so they would pull for more characters and net them profit. This same tactic was used in the chronicle wish banner, where they dangled Dehya + tightnari's weapon in front of everyone that been asking for a rerun of their weapon for months.

As someone who has played GI since launch, and dropped it (and HSR) a couple months ago because I think Hoyo is kinda dumb, I don't think I have enough characters built for this mode. If I do, they're built with scuffed artifacts and underleveled talents. I spent literal MONTHS trying to get a good goblet for Raiden. By the time I dropped the game I still never found a good one. I still look at GI news every so often because I really do like the game and wish they would improve it in various ways, but they simply just don't. They dance around actual issues and give appeasements, not solutions. I'd come back of they did actually improve the game, and treated players better for keeping their game alive for 3+ years.

The CN players were pissed about the bell on Nilou’s new outfit because it ‘reminded’ them of Wanderer. And also because Wanderer was in the event as well, and allegedly (I wasn’t playing Genshin at the time) but the CN players were killing black cats because it reminded them of Wanderer as well. I know Wanderer is annoying but that’s just overdoing the line of the absurdity of their actions. Though I’m not saying every CN players are like this, just some.

I spent way longer than 10 minutes first time i tried it, but that's because i really screwed up what character plsyed when and osibted mysekf into a few corners and the domain lightning DOTs just team wiped me over and over no matter what i did. I banged my head for an hour, couldn't figure out how to get rewards, just so frustrating. Then i stepped away, saw how to reset my attempt and somehow everything immediately became possible: rewards finally became accessible, i figured out how to use rewind and item selection reset, tried normal difficulty, it was absurdly easy... tried hard again and gimped myself with virtually unbuilt characters for as long as i could to save my best characters... i can do it, just a little further... Wait what? I killed the end boss in 15 seconds? The entire game mode is all or nothing. its either a mess because of how it forces characters together who don't work together, or its so easy it can be stomped while sleepwalking. They're going to have to tell us what the next set of elemental restrictions are a full version in advance.

Problem with it is that its design is complete antithesis to genshin’s combat mechanic. That said I don’t particularly care as long as they realize there needs to be more endgame content and keep adding more. They’re bound to do something right at some point.

I logged into genshin for the first time in a few months just to try out Imaginarium, and oh boy was I disappointed, I got pretty far on my first try on the highest difficulty, but died to a random encounter because it had a time limit and I was forced to use underinvested characters who I have never used outside of Imaginarium. After that I immediately recognized what the gamemode was all about, building every single fucking character, and I'm not doing that so I left and haven't logged in since.

I imagine when Anemo, geo, dendro season comes 💀 I think what genshin did was try to please casuals and competitive players. I think what they could have done few things I got idea: - Make Imaginarium Theater less restrictive about elements, they could exclude 2 elements, instead of 4. - Make Abyss harder or more complex, for competitive players. - To get all rewards, you will have to complete at least 2 times, one of these mods (Don't know if i'm expressing myself correctly, my english sucks), for example: For a casual player, in this new idea for the theater, he could complete Theater twice, and get all rewards. With this idea, both abyss and theater could reset after 15 days. If you guys have any suggestions about what could be added to my idea, go ahead. Basically my idea is for Imaginarium theater would be for casuals and abyss for competitive players.

ah, so your ideia is make rewards shared between the game modes similar of how HSR makes all the SU (and now DU) connected, and if you complete any of them on the monday (day which the rewards reset), the points go for all of them. I like a lot this idea, so people who like IT could get rewards for IT, and people who like abyss could get rewards from there too, and if you think one of them is too difficult to get all the rewards due to choose to invest horizontally or vertically, you can just sticky with the one your account is more adapted to.

Also as i said in my previous comment, it is ridiculous for me to need 16 characters for just 3 elements, if it was 5 or allowed at least 4 friends's characters. The game mode was probably made by the marketing team thinking it will be a hit 🤣. Ironically, I think the people that do like this game mode (AR56-58) will come to hate it once they run out of options on the next season reset. You talked at the end about the crappy trial characters Hoyo gives...yup, that is exactly what they think you are. For them a player is always stuck at AR50 and needs bosses nerfed and loves every non-combat mode they throw at it. The reality is that those casuals they aim to get are the most likely to curn and go to other games rather than a casual that actually keeps up with the story and plays events (but not really abyss).

if this is the goal, then they failed completly on getting there. If the goal is promote a specific team or archetype, why would you not put the character on the current banner as trial versions? Why make the teambuilding random so that is there the possibility of not playing the said team or archetype?

Well, part of why of trial characters for events are limited level/badly geared is so that people who do have the characters will feel good about using their own, and how well theirs performs. They don't want people who spent primos (and ideally money to get said primos) thinking that there wasn't a point to pulling because the trial version just outdoes their own anyway.

it took me 2.5 years to build 4 teams to end up having 5 characters that I can play. I ended up playing teams with 3 DPS and a completely unrelated support. plus I now get less resources cuz the abyss doesn't reset twice a month 😭 can we just go back and pretend this garbage didn't happen?

The problem I see with this game mode is that it kind of goes against how the game works. Resin is very limited which limits leveling up characters,weapons, and talents. Then getting characters comes down to the luck of the pulls. I've been playing for about 4 months and I simply don't have enough characters of the specific elements to even work on for this round of IT. I think it's going to take new players around a year to have the variety of characters built up to do IT without worry due to the resin system and luck of the pulls unless they're willing to spend thousands of dollars to speed up the process. I've made it to the 8th floor of spiral abyss but I'm not sure if I even have enough characters for act 2 of IT.

This gamemode was probably directed at players like me who don't do Abyss and build many random characters but forgot that these players most likely won't play Imaginarium Theatre either. 😂 I don't think I'd really struggle with the mediocre builds on my larger roster but I don't really feel like trying another time limited combat mode when that's already something I avoid doing.

imo opinion to make IT better they should introduce something called the star performer (to fit the theatre theme) what would be a character you can select that can be used as many times as needed, this would remove character entry number requirements (since you will always have at least one character to use) encourage horizontal investment while not ignoring vertical investment (your star performer can be a hyperinvested character but you will still want plenty of characters to build around thart character) encourage teambuilding (you would have to think about how to build around that character and what character to pick, a support for multiple dps characters or multiple dps characters for a support) allow an increase in difficulty (players wouldn't be forced to play teams that are completely unsynergystic so they can make the content harder)

Yall remember that one event were you're moves were changed and you did these 1v1's against the npcs. It was when Ayaka had to do that one play or something. Imagine they made a permanent gamemode where you have to choose an assortment of special skills, a burst, and a passive, then you can duke it out with either npcs, or with other players.

I got stuck on one boss without good characters for it, and it took me half an hour of grinding attempts to finish it in time. My characters are at a point where it was possible but far from a breeze, and it actually felt pretty fun to try and finish each floor with the worst team possible to save good characters for later.

Every single bad design decision in Genshin is intentional and serves a purpose. And the answer is always - money. It was released in this state cuz: 1) They are selling ZZZ (that is promoted to be combat oriented). Just like how they held off any qol/improvements in Genshin to sell HSR with those changes. 2) They intentionally released IT in the worst possible state, so now after few minor changes people would accept it easier, since "it got better" (they won't change restriction to have tons of characters). They will get some easy karma too (aka "devs finally started to listen!" etc). 3) Players pull characters on constelations and don't feel any need to pull new characters, revenue is falling. This mode entire purpose is to intencify spending from their target audience (casuals who have money, but have no time).

My main problem with this mode is that if you just don’t have certain elements or even certain characters for the guest stars, you just can’t do this mode. I have enough pyro electro and anemo characters to do normal mode but not hard. And in the new season of theater, I had to quickly build up heizou just to have enough characters for normal, because I have zero cryo characters built, and none of them are 5 stars

Some changes I would make to the mode to make imaginareum theater better: - Lift the restrictions on our rosters, but randomize the process by which you can obtain a character from your roster. This should be based off character elements or weapon type. For instance, you can make everyone choose between having to start with a team that has 1 pyro, 1 electro, and 1 anemo, or a team with 2 pyro 1 polearm, etc. Then as you continue forward, the recruitment tokens you obtain are also random (i.e. the next stage you get a token to select 1 sword character or 1 geo character). With this type of system, you still heavily push players to horizontally invest, but give the players far more freedom to choose who they want to invest in and not locking anyone out of characters they've already invested in. - Greatly expand the list of usable trial characters and make them far more accessible (like able to choose up to 2 per stage), but cap them at level 60 or 70. The purpose of these characters should be to act as emergency fillers for triggering essential reactions or being able to clear with strong supports (like if all you current have is bennett), but not strong enough to clear by themselves. This is to prevent situations where a players character is completely neutered due to built in restrictions in their character's core, such as nilou or chevreuse. This would also address one of the main complaints in that you can't bring less than a max party - if you have a strong hypercarry, you can just throw them in with 3 of these weak trial characters. - Make the supplementary objectives optional but provide some sort of actual reward for doing them. For instance, if there's a stage where they want you to swirl 20 times, you could make the reward a token that lets you refresh the random recruitment the next time in case it was an element or weapon type you didn't have. I do appreciate what genshin was trying to do in implementing an endgame mode that promotes horizontal investment - I just think the final product was terrible. I think they can look at other successful roguelike modes in gacha games and take their inspiration from that while still staying true to the spirit of Genshin. Like I think there's a good framework here and they don't need to throw out the entire mode, they just need to overhaul parts of the character selection process and teambuilding and I think this mode would be really fun.

I think Imaginarium Theater is exactly the kind of endgame I was wanting. Something that isn't just a dps check but rather something that tests your team building skills and reactions skills. Don't have the perfect team for this challenge? You gotta deal with it and make it work the best you can. It forces you to go back and play the game like you did at the start. Relying solely on the reactions. Need to apply pyro? Pull out Amber and shoot the enemy then overload it with Lisa for maximum damage. That's what it used to be like and is what this game mode is shooting for. I imagine this is why they added a bunch of QoL features for newer players, so that they had a fighting chance at playing this mode. It isn't specifically meant for new players, but it should be easier to get into than Spiral Abyss because the investment per character isn't as high and most newer players tend to invest horizontally rather than vertically anyways. When Hoyo said they weren't making any more endgame LIKE Spiral Abyss, they meant it and it really shows in Imaginarium Theater. It's not like abyss, it's not for people who hyper invest in to a few characters, that's who abyss is for. This is for people like me who don't enjoy hyper investing but still have many characters built and need a reason to use ALL of them. Also I'd like to point out that this is indeed an endgame mode. It's a mode that taps into a space that hasn't been tapped into previously. Horizontal investment. If current vertical investment players are struggling then, this may sound a bit harsh but, just get better. I don't mean in the sense of skill, but a better account. This is just a new meta and you have to adapt to it. I'm sure there are people out there who struggle with abyss but have a easy time in IT but also vice versa. Once again, this is an ENDGAME mode. It's supposed to push you to your limits. It's not supposed to be easy. Abyss pushes you to your limits in vertical investment. IT pushes you to your limits in horizontal investment. All of the hyper investing vertical investors are struggling because their account is not as good as they thought it was. Gotta get back to work. You all wanted something to do right? Well now you have something! Build your non-built characters! Change things up a little. This honestly should be a lot easier and less taxing than before because you aren't trying to get the PERFECT stats, just ones that are serviceable. Then you can move on to another character. Imaginarium Theater IS what everyone has been asking for but no one even realizes it. Everyone wanted a new mode that's different from abyss. We got it. Everyone wanted a reason to use more than just a few characters. We got it. Everyone wanted something new to grind for, a new goal. We got it. Sorry for getting so worked up over this but it just has been building up. Seeing so many people trash on what I think is a great endgame mode, has really bothered me. And yes I know it's not perfect, but it has the potential to be really good. My biggest complaint is that it's too short. (I wish it was something that took multiple days to complete the whole thing.) It's already getting something new in 4.8 so we know the devs aren't just gonna let it sit and die.

it's an endgame mode, but it doesn't feel like one. it feels like a resin/pull check, because that's what it is. you said it yourself, "get a better account". nobody is trying to stop you from liking it, but treating it as an objectively good gamemode is just... not what you should be doing, chief. it actually works against player choice due to the RNG part, and works against its own game design because it doesn't *care* for reactions. if it did, it wouldn't lock you into 3 elements. people don't like getting "incentivized" to pull for characters they don't like or care for, and same goes for building them. if someone won't listen to meta advice telling them to build xingqiu, what made hoyoverse think a gamemode that doesn't even let you use proper meta will? no amount of IT will ever convince me to build characters i dislike just to have bragging rights over someone who thinks my account is "not as good as i thought it was".

Its annoying because i have been told by so many youtubers “focus on only building a few characters at a time” and thats what iv done since i started, iv spent most my recourses on building my yoimiya team, pulling for 5 stars just to make that team stronger, spending most of my resin on farming artifacts and leveling my characters on that team and my 2nd team. And now im being told by genshin to screw that and build as many characters as possible. Most genshin players were told to focus on your main 2 teams and not waste resources on characters you wont use, but now are forced to, instead focus on our main teams, to focus on building’s characters we will use once for the theatre

@@IrrelevantOaf I’m not doing damage with the trial characters. The enemies are extremely tanky in hard mode. If I use my regularly built characters like Nahida, Raiden Shogun, Neuvillette and Kazuha I would shred the enemies quickly. I notice that on medium difficulty I solely rely on Kazuha to quickly defeat hordes of enemies. My Raiden Shogun has main stat elemental mastery artifacts, so she isn’t doing damage in my non-hyperbloom teams. I’m thinking about giving her other artifacts for her new role. I end up with Raiden Shogun, Diluc, Bennett and Fischl in act 6. My Diluc also doesn’t have good artifacts.

@@IrrelevantOaf I finally managed to beat the medium difficulty. I ended up in act 6 with Arlecchino, Clorinde, Raiden Shogun and Kazuha. I had to do many retries. Problem is that I am not familiar with the Arlecchino and Clorinde. I don’t know how they tick. The online manuals are esoteric. I could defeat the annoying self reviving vishaps with great difficulty and barely within the time limit. As a matter of fact, I don’t understand the complaints about it being too easy. I have over 20 characters built that meet the requirements to start the hard difficulty, which I don’t even make past act 1.

The biggest problem is that it's essentially a more restricted form of Abyss where your play apart from your team building strategy, is essentially unchanged. WuWa's ToA did it right.

I'm a casual F2P player at AR 55 and I built very TALL. I have only 1 team that is extremely well built and I barely ever stray from it unless I want to challenge myself with below average characters or test new team comps. I don't even participate in abyss much, to give some perspective, because I don't have a suitable 2nd team that isn't half-baked. The highest I've ever reached is floor 9 chamber 2. It just feels so out of the blue to be told that I know have to spend all of my resin and resources on characters I barely like and only brought up to lvl 20 for the acquaint fate. I've seen that all I needed was to have my one amazing performing team to get through the content and now I need to have all of my charcters lvled and built to a good amount to perform what is supposed to be endgame content. I know that I could easily defeat the enemies if I had my choice of characters but I dont, since we are restricted by vigor and elements. It is just very annoying to me that Genshin did a whole 180 even though I'm used to Genshin fucking us over repeatedly. If someone is asking what I've been doing with my resin I have been lvling my teams character talents and stockpiling EXP materials and artifacts for any future character that I really want. I think that genshin either needs to get rid of the element restriction or vigor, and I know that I can level my characters up but I don't believe that the rewards are worth my time, effort, or consideration. Only 620 primogems, about 3 or 4 wishes, per season IF you complete all of the stages just is not enough to entice me into spending my time playing and using characters that I do not enjoy or will never touch again.

There are buffs for 60 immaginarium thater coins, that revive energy or even whole used characters!!! I just used my c6 hu tao and busted that immaginarium with that buff

I'm playing consistently since 1.0 and it was slightly difficult, but the only difficulty was using unsynchronized teams and on first try i didnt expect having so many difficulties with final boss. Had to rearrange and play even more random chaotic unfun and ineffective teams to save best characters for last stage

any mode that forces me to use characters i dont like or never used, and then gives me usage limit per character, will make me utterly hate it. sure ive levelled most char to 70 for the free pulls and boredom but that doesnt mean i have the proper artifacts on them nor the know how to actually play those characters

Imaginarium was created to encourage building more characters, rather than just sinking ever more resources into a few core characters. It's designed to reward flexible builds that work well in many teams, rather than builds that are dependent on specific teams. It's meant to reward the ability to build teams on the fly, rather than the ability to look up teams on the internet. It's meant to be the Yin to Abyss's Yang. The execution wasn't that great but the purpose is pretty obvious IMO.

I played the Labyrinth Warriors event while my account was still just okay and not maximum WL. I think the main 5 stars I had were Zhongli, Venti, Childe, Kazuha, and Yoimiya. It was moderately difficult, sometimes it was a challenge, or sometimes the buffs made it pretty doable. I remember I enjoyed exploring too even if there wasn't a whole lot to explore, but you'd find healing rooms and buff rooms and things like that. The buffs were also way more random and fun, like one that let you drop a bomb whenever you sprinted.

I didn’t have much problems with it but i’ll definitely hate it when we’ll get locked behind freeze and geo teams 💀I don’t have a single geo dps and not a single freeze team

Note that this is a new mode and many people have not built multiple characters. They probably set the difficulty level too low for this. I think that over time it will be as hardcore as the abyss

What sucks for me about this mode is.....is im mainly a mono geo player. I came back after taking a year off saw a new mode and realized i dont have enough characters to attempt it. Lol

Man it felt like whiplash completing the theater in a perfect run after just my second try. I've been playing since 2020, so I understand I have a bunch of characters to pluck from and use but I expected to be trying a little harder to get through it. The most fun I had during theater was strategizing which characters to use for an optimal team on a low budget like I was running a damn buisness. It feels like I'm going nuts because Spiral Abyss is harder to beat for my account.

To add my voice as a datapoint for feedback, I started in 4.3 because of Navia, beat the story and major events in about 3-4 months, then came back recently (been about 2 weeks). I had enough characters (11) through act 6. I looked at the requirement for act 9 (18 characters), and decided that hoyo can keep those primos. On the house - my treat. To give a point of comparison, as of today (7/30/24), I have 2 teams (Navia hot rock and Keqing aggravate) and can clear the abyss (not 36 star yet, so far 31 stars).

I've actually had a bit of a struggle with this game mode. My account is very hydro focused, i usually play a hyperbloom team and a mono hydro team to 36 star, usually first try as well. Upon Theater's release, i only had 15 usable characters, then within a few days i levelled 3 more to level 70 without talents or proper artifacts so they were mostly dummies. Did an all star clear within 2-3 hours afterwards.

Please continue to make guides. I tried normal mode and did it fine, but I was one character short for hard mode and when I did the Traveller trick to get one more character I've been finding the step up in difficulty to be much harder than I had previously encountered.

i think it would be a lot less "offensive" if it was a standalone game, rather than something to sell to the community as "endgame". kinda like hearthstone. it's an alright game, but when hoyo tries me to convince me it's "endgame for genshin" and not a whole new game, i call bullshit :p

I’m having a hard time only because when I started I didn’t read it fully and said let’s bring furina, yomiya, Kokomi, raiden, and a couple more characters that were mostly hydro imagine my shock to only be able to use my yomiya and raiden. That one was on me I can admit that but my account is a hydro with a dash of electro, pyro, and geo I have no built pyro unit other than my yoymia my raiden is meant to be a sub dps so without a good dps I folded and I have no anemo characters built other then Jean from when I started playing she’s lvl 30 with purple artifacts. Sorry for the rant but if it wasn’t for the elemental restrictions I might have been fine but now I just don’t feel like playing this because it would take me a while just to farm for four characters to build. hope those who are having a hard time with it are able to surpass it.

IT was probably made for people like me who likes to build every character I have... but the teams I'm forced to use are so shit I can't enjoy playing the character. I only played it once for the primogems and then never touched it again because I hated it.

It is targeted towards casuals, but old casuals. As a day one casual player, yes I still didn't 100% liyue and Monstadt, and I didn't even do half of inazuma, sumeru and fontaine. I explore, grind and build characters when I feel like it, yet I have more than 27 characters built-ish. I managed to finish act 8 and get all the rewards. Casual player doesn't mean new player. Casual player also doesn't mean that you only have like 3 characters built. It just means that you aren't consuming the game's content as much as your average dedicated player. But look, even if you were as slow as a turtle, progress builds up. You don't need to max out characters. you need to just have enough built-ish! And it is not so much to ask when the game has already been around for a while. Even when characters are barely built, you can make up for it with smart team compositions. In abyss you have 100% control on who you can choose so just follow a brain-dead guide. But when there is RNG involved? You can finally unleash your creativity. Yes imaginarium theatre is far from ideal for your dedicated player, but you aren't the target audience either way. Hoyoverse was clear with that. Again, a casual player doesn't have to be a new player.

As an endgame player who 36 stars abyss every single time, whales, endgame players, and CCs complaining about imaginarium theater being too easy is such a first world problem. The endgame being easier is something that can only benefit people. I much like a horizontal investment-focused gamemode as opposed to how insanely vertical abyss is. They could do with dropping the requirements however cause they are a bit steep. Personally I have a blast in IT concocting crazy deranged teams to make the most out of every bit of value my characters offer, even if it's filling a slot to save me from using another character.

The issue is how it’s designed it’s designed with the idea that you have a ton of characters built, which in theory means that you’re either endgame or a whale, but the content is so easy that it’s clearly meant for casuals, which is why the game is given mixed signals about who it’s for it’s clearly not meant for the casuals because casuals don’t have that many characters, and it’s clearly not meant for endgame or Wales because endgame and Wales can just brush through it without even trying

@@LjCast-b6q is it really easy though? I didn’t find Imaginarium theater to be “easy” per se rather it has lower build requirements. My Dehya of all characters in its first iteration was able to unironically put out good damage. The difficulty comes from enemy lineups and character management, not raw numbers. This isn’t spiral so perhaps we shouldn’t judge its difficulty based on spiral.

@@K-Sha1 the issue is it requires a large quantity of characters yes, it requires you to build a large quantity of characters all of which need to be at least level 70, which would imply that it wants to be a whale or endgame player, but the incredible easy enemies enemies makes it to where pretty much any low built. Easy to invest character can completed which means it’s way too easy for endgame players because they can easily brush through it but way too difficult for early players because they don’t have the characters needed personally my issue isn’t that it’s easy. It’s that it doesn’t know what it wants to be. I wish it would just choose being a game mode for early players or a game mode for late players, but they’re trying to cater to both and it’s ending horribly.

I played the game mode one single time, on the day it came out, and was unable to clear the final battle against the Dancers because of a combination of not enough good characters and the buffs not adequately boosting the characters I had. Also, didn’t realize they were the final boss, did not have any Ousia characters in my rotation at all, so it was basically a losing spiral and I just gave up. Probably won’t bother trying again until the next season tbh. Granted, I’m a person that doesn’t even bother attempting Floor 12 of Spiral Abyss because it just isn’t fun, it always kind of felt to me like the enemies they’ve chosen for Floor 12 are impossible to beat, even though I have the achievement for clearing Floor 12, which I’ve done three times, with 0, 0, and 3 Stars respectively. Which admittedly, probably a numbers issue + skill issue on my part, same for Imaginarium

What frustrates me is that now I’ll have to play this mode in order to get the typical abyss cycle rewards since the reset schedule for that is now delayed. I absolutely hate it. Abyss was becoming boring but at least at least it didn’t make me lose my fucking mind from frustration (in the annoyance of it, not the difficulty).

The ekonomia event where you replay the map but harder ,whit new chest coop option was the perfect end game imo , just do it in random part of the map every month whit even harder movs like floor 12 hard type of mob .

i haven’t even opened up imaginarium theater’s quest. i only have two characters “built” (maybe 2.5 if you count childe being a burst support), and even then, my artifacts are nowhere near the recommended build for the characters. and the first limitations were. hydro??? as in my only built characters???? (minus baizhu). made me not want to touch anything regarding it.
