That's #14 wire used in the video. Note the slot used on the wire stripper. #10 aluminum is normally the size encountered here in Florida. You can't push the wire back because all the wire is stapled in most cases as required and the wire is pretty stiff. You will need a Wiremold extension #V5751. The standard box depth is 2 inches. So, two #10 romex cables in a box that size will tax the fill of the box along with a typical usage of three Alumiconns. There is an approved receptacle and switch rated CO/ALR OK'd by the NEC that will replace the old receptacle but the insurance companies insist on Alumiconns. Go figure.

Do you make one with 4 slots in those cases where you have three sets of romex? And what about where you have a set of two wires without a tap, do you make a two slot for that?

if these are plastic boxes do you still need the connector or can you use another method for the copper to Alum ground? Also do you need to do this in the panel box itself?

Clearly none of you amateurs are electrical contractors. Any jobsite I'm on commercial or residential There's club music blasting 24/7. Even if it means running remote power out and getting a DJ up at 5 in the morning after an all night rave. Job has to get done.

The drum beating is distracting, annoying and makes it hard to focus on what is being said. Who would think that would be proper for an instructional video. Must have been put together by a 16 year old kid.

So, Am I correct to say that these connectors are for copper to aluminum only?, and any connections that may pass through the box that are aluminum to aluminum are ok? I just simply cannot fit alot of these alumicons into a box! Also to add: Why not just make sure all your devices are suited for aluminum wiring( still very readily available at most hardware stores for a fraction of the cost of these alumicons.

@UtwoBed - Good questions! We currently do make a 2 Port & a 3 Port version of the AlumiConn Connector. Unfortunately we do not have a 4 Port version at this time, but I will pass on your request to our Engineers to see if it's something they have in mind. For now, you can use multiple 3 Port & 2 Port connectors to compensate for any additional wires you have in the box. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to comment, or send us an email!

" For now, you can use multiple 3 Port & 2 Port connectors to compensate for any additional wires you have in the box." .... That would probably require installing an addition electrical box just to hold the connectors.

What... if any... negative effects or problems by having a slightly over torqued connection. I just forked over $350 for 100 of these and I don't want to fork over over $100 plus more just for a special torque screwdriver. Obviously having a under torqued connection has its issue, but what about a slightly over torqued connection?

That’s why you need to charge $50-$200 per outlet. All need to be connected same way. Receptacles, Switches, Fans, Light Fixtures. My average is $80 each using alumicon and $200 each using copalum.

This video makes the installation look simple. In the real world those old aluminum romex cables are fastened to framing and do not allow for the cables to pushed/pulled through the back of the box. This may be the 'best' remediation solution on the market but it is also an expensive one. A single duplex outlet box is going to cost at least $12.50 in material. Multiple switch boxes may be impossible with only 3 ports per conductor. Some boxes may have to be replaced in order to accommodate the extra volume required by the bulky connectors.

$12.50 materials and labor time, disconnect it and reconnected. Is about 20 min per outlet. $50 min and $200 max if you are gonna be profitable. Of course included if you need the box replaced

Hi Crystal, You would connect the aluminum conductors into the AlumiConn connector as shown in the video. With the light fixture having copper leads, there is no need for a copper pigtail; the copper leads from the light fixture would go directly into the AlumiConn connector. If you need further clarification, please feel free to call us at 800-633-0232.

Aluminum wiring is more prone to catching on fire so this allows for a safe manner to switch to copper connections to outlets, etc.

Hello, Crystal! I'm speaking to you from 8 years in the future. You would connect the copper leads from the fixture to the 2nd port and torque to likely 15 in-lb.

Cost of aluminum repair turns in a more expensive matter for home owners. Rewire turns a better option in price. But if the owners, who decides witch way to go. One at a time 20 min each times de amount of outlets or whole job in 1 week, rewiring
