What torch/gas are you using? Can I use propane torch with that rod? Thanks

Propane works on most applications, if you are working on a larger object or thicker aluminum to may need to use mapp gas. Also the torch tips make a bid difference. I like the TS8000 by Bernzomatic, you can use mapp gas or propane, it is adjustable, and it can put out a lot of heat. Watch my pontoon repair video and weld aluminum at home on my youtube channel kzitem.info thanks

Mine has a hairline crack and could probably break any second I’m just wondering if I put the rod on the hairline crack and then grind it flush if it will hold

@@codinskie8 You will have to V out the crack and fill and go pass the repair a half inch each side of the crack. If it breaks off you can weld a butt joint on . I have a video showing the strength.

Hi Ranger, I have repaired many props and lower units with no trouble. The only reasons for failure are: 1. Not cleaning the aluminum, 2. Not heating the prop so the rod is melted by the prop, 3.Only adding rod to the very tip of the prop so there is very little contract with the prop. 4. Not letting the prop cool slowly. Give it another try, it works!!

Follow the instructions and that will not happen. I posted a new video that may help you.
