Awesome reviews helping to expose some hidden gem games - both the Alwas games look so amazing. I think you nailed it with the NES/SNES comment. The collection here is only £20, so I may pick it up once I get through some of my backlog. I also noticed there is a limited edition version of the collection which includes a lovely diorama and few other bits. Kudos to the developers for the improvements in the sequel, the graphics I am impressed with the aesthetic which kind of reminds me of Shovel Knight a bit. Just curious, do you typically play retro-style videos with a conventional D-pad or Analogue stick?

Thank you MichaelJ! I think the Alwa's collection is a great deal and you'll have to let me know your thoughts on the games once you play them! Yes, LRG came out with a limited edition version. I have the boxed NES version of Alwa's Awakening that is fully playable on the NES which is super cool. Funny you mention Shovel Knight because there is a character in Alwa's Legacy that immediately made me think of Shovel Knight, I'm sure you will notice it right off the bat like I did. For Retro-Style modern day games, I'd say I'm using the D-Pad 99% of the time. How about you?

@@thunderstashgaming I usually play retro games with the analogue stick because I play handheld 99% of the time. I do use a Satisfy grip plus Skull & co analogue thumb grips (love a concave grip feel) and a D-pad accessory. The Skull & Co D-pad fix is alright, it's not too bad but the positioning of the D-pad makes it easier to use the analogue sticks for me as the position of the D-pad feels a little awkward. I'm about 20 hours into Hollow Knight, so I'm hoping to be finishing that game soon - it's pretty good, creative with bosses. Also, 33% into Sparks of Hope, it's decent too with a lot of cut scenes but it offers more of a casual experience for me. Waiting to pick up Donkey Kong vs Mario next week, looking forward to it :)

Makes sense man. I think turning the D-pad into buttons on the Joycons was a bad move for fans of D-pads and a lot of us transitioned to using the analogue sticks. I prefer the D-Pad but sticks work well too! I still need to play Hollow Knight. I have it so it's not a matter of 'if' but 'when' I will finally play it! Also need to play Sparks of Hope too and own that as well! I'm planning on picking up Mario Vs. DK next week. Enjoyed it on Gameboy back in the day with Donkey Kong 94!

@@thunderstashgaming Agree with you about the D-Pad. I Do have a NES/SNES Nintendo Online controllers so perhaps they'll do for Alwas Awakening Collection (I gave in and ended up buying it, haha). Do you have any bonuses with your Mario vs DK game? In UK there is a bundle with a small jigsaw set, keyring and stickers. I'll be picking up a copy at launch too. Mentioning DK94, That's one thing we seem to be missing as Switch owners, a new DK Game. Maybe for Switch 2? rumours going around on the internet a switch 2 maybe revealed before March 16. We shall see.

Ohh nice! The only NSO controller I picked up is the N64 controller and what's really cool about it is that you can also connect it to your PC. I have Super Mario 64 and Zelda on my PC running at 60 FPS and being able to use a legit N64 controller to play them makes it that much better. That is awesome you bought the Alwa's Collection! I am excited to hear your thoughts on the games! I did not get any bonuses with my Mario vs DK unfortunately. I have not see any preorder bonuses from any of the Retailers. I have Princess Peach Showtime preordered at Best Buy and that comes with a cool acrylic stand but nothing for Mario vs DK. Looking forward to playing it in a few days! I agree, DK has been on my mind a lot when it comes to Franchise revivals. I own DK Country Tropical Freeze on Wii U and do not count the Switch port as a new entry in the franchise. I actually just looked up the original release date and it released on February 13th, 2014... 10 years and still waiting for DK to get his own new game. From various rumors I've heard and read over the last year or two, we will be getting a new mainline DK game for Switch 2. It's unknown if it will be a new entry to the DK Country series or if it will be a 3D Adventure game akin to DK64. I've also heard from good sources that a DK movie is in the works and so I have to imagine that would want a new DK game to come out around the movie release timeframe to really capitalize on sales. Nintendo could literally already have a completed DK game that they are just waiting to release so it aligns with the movie. Yes, I listened to NatetTheHate's podcast, saw that Necrofelipe and UniversoNintendo all commented on a March Switch 2 reveal. I would agree, my gut has always said March, right before Nintendo's fiscal year ends. I think March is a very strong bet. The real question is going to be when do preorders open and when is the release date? I think Switch 2 has been ready for quite some time and imagine the Switch 2 will have the strongest launch lineup for any Nintendo console. What do you think?
