As a fellow "Black Sheep" who has people talking about me all of the time, I loved your video. I am also a Stampin" Up! Demo and self-taught Brother ScanNCut expert. I teach how to use it with our SU products and I get a lot of sneers and comments because we don't sell the machine. The machine actually helps me sell more of SU products as I share ways to use it with our existing products but I still have people coming up to me in person and writing me online about it. I relate to your video. Craft with the supplies that make you feel happy and creative. You do YOU. I'm sorry you have to spend so much time answering questions from so many others who don't mind their own business and who don't understand the policies. Thanks for making this video.

I actually recently bought the scan and cut machine after seeing your video to use with SU products ( not all of their products have dies.) I am no longer a demo but I love using the machine with stamps with all brands. I also enjoy using my copics and ohuhu markers . I love how tim holtz puts it " if it's in your toy box why not use it?" I am probably an Odd ball.

I was so happy to find this video. I have also been a demonstrator for over 10 years and was becoming stale doing the same thing. I am branching into other craft forms and trying to use my Stampin Up products when I can. I also love coloring with copic. The most important thing you said was that less than 1% of demonstrators reach those higher levels. I am 77 years old and just want my hobbies to be fun not work. I was feeling a failure because all I heard was from the ones winning trips and bonuses. Now I feel more comfortable in just doing what I want and using other products sometime. Thank you.

This reminds me of when I was in Mary Kay and one of the consultants got her car. She decided having the ‘free’ car wasn’t worth all the work and time away from her family. She even went back to work for her previous employer and had more family time than she had before. The thing people don’t get is you need to pivot to do what works for YOU not what everyone expects from you. I will still watch and love your work.

I was an SU demonstrator for many years and loved their products…. Especially their color families. But I really wanted to learn Copic coloring, and so many other companies offered stamp sets that catered to Copic coloring. I just got to a point where I couldn’t personally justify my monthly financial commitment to SU and buy the other products I wanted to buy on top of it, so I gave up my demonstratorship. I still buy SU products from time to time and love them.

I am a SU demonstrator and have been for many years as well. I have used other products in my workshops that I have held. The world has a lot of options that makes life more interesting. I love dabbling in different media. I’m so sorry you had to put this out and received negativity. We don’t need that in our lives. Keep being you and determine your priorities. Unfortunately the social media has become a place for people to say and do things that would not be said or done in person, it’s too easy way to hide behind these platforms and be nasty. I feel just as all us crafters are different and bring so many different ideas , so do the many craft companies, and to stay with one product line stagnated my craft journey. I also noticed many of the SU demos have either a spouse or helpers to assist in their business and I cans see if your one person in your business, can be daunting- kudos for you to be able to achieve that! Good luck and welcome to the unending creative world💕

I don't mean my comment as negative, I am giving my perspective as a customer. I will say as a customer I would not support a demonstrator who didn't do most of their content on the products of the company I am purchasing from. I would not find it fair for those creators that are trying to build and maintain their business and do have a majority of content on the company. I also just find it frustrating. When I purchase products from a company I like to get inspiration on how to use them and would expect my demonstrator to help with that. So I would be very disappointed as a customer and would probably change. I also would not want to join a team where the leader was not involved with creating with the majority of the product from the company they are connected to. You are right, you can do whatever you want and I as a customer can do the same. Ethically though, I would not feel comfortable doing what you are doing. Still having a team and still taking commission and sales from people. Mostly because SO MUCH of your content is no longer SU. I do think SU may need to revisit their policy because I believe one of the reasons Close To My Heart doors closed is because the demonstrators consistently used other stuff. It was frustrating to me as a customer to find demonstrators inspiring me to use their products. I would see tons of catalog hauls and not much of follow up videos seeing the products! I totally get you wanting to embrace other products and other creative ventures, unfortunately it's hard to make money without selling stuff. Craft videos don't really make enough views to get money for that. Again, this is why I would spend my money ordering from a demonstrator who was using their product for most videos and projects. For me i's just not fair not to. I am glad you made this video, I do think it is the business of your customers and future team members to have this information.

I appreciate the kindness and honesty expressed in your comment. The challenges faced by CTMH were not a result of their makers. For me as a customer I want to feel like people are using and enjoying what they purchase. For me people who love and use their products faithfully make me want to invest in those products. I feel like many SU demo push new products only and then forget them completely. On to the next thing. I personally prefer to see that I'm going to get a lot of use from my purchases. Techniques can be used with any product. I really enjoy learning new things and being able to apply to products I'm drawn to. I love that Wendy is true to her and uses what she loves. I am happy to order my SU products from her and appreciate both her talents and integrity.
@nancyann1090

@@heiditurner-morrione4438 I do not mean to imply CTMH closing is the fault of the Makers. The reality is a business needs to sell product or they close down. I agree many SU demonstrators push new product and you can't keep up. I don't know the answer because if they can't sell product they will close, that is just business. I don't know what the answer is, what the happy medium is. I do get being tired of all crafting videos selling you something. But I also don't like the classes being sold and exclusive groups either. Maybe I just need to find an in real life group to craft with.

A thoughtful and useful video. I have been a hobby demonstrator for seven years with no plan to be anything else. My reason for this choice is because I have a heart for mixed media, I love gel printing, junk journaling, stenciling, acrylic painting, water colouring etc. Until recently Stampin’Up has not fulfilled that area of my artistic desire. My other issue was not being able to use retired products to create with if I want to do a video. So thank you for clearing up some of the ideas I may have mistakenly thought. I am a sincere and engaging person and I felt questioned in that sincerity if I prompted a sale of sorts. Don't get me wrong, I did well. I had downline but, when they changed the earning levels for SE, it changed my attitude and not in a good way. I wish SU would change earning levels to straight sales. THATS what I wish for future peeps bc, I am out for good. We will be traveling quite a bit in the next few years and I just want to make cards for causes until then. I am a stampin up demonstrator and make the minimum required quarter to retain that option. I have no customers and the reason is, I don't want to do the bookeeping necessary for selling. I love stampin up and enjoy making cards boxes and treat bags, etc. You don't need to justify your position at all. I also have a scan and cut and watched the papered chef demonstrator show us how to use it with all the aspects of it. I bought it so I can do card kits and have classes. I give people the catalog and they order what they want on their own. Where they take their interest is up to them. I too refuse to be limited as to what I can do other than buy the products, use them and enjoy them. I also have a misti which I use with my stampin up stamps. I admire you for clarifying this but it was not necessary.

Love your transparency! 🥰 I also love that you are finding joy in the creative process again. I think when we loose joy, change/pivoting is needed. 😊

Thank you for making this video. I'm a demonstrator as well and I've seen so many people making comments that the only reason "some demonstrators" are being allowed to use other products without getting in trouble with Stampin' Up! is because they are upper-level demos that make lots of money. I know that to be untrue. But whenever I try to tell them they argue with me and want to fight. I'm over it as well. I don't blame you for feeling like you have to justify yourself. It's mind-boggling what people feel they are entitled to project onto you or what they think is any of their business. News flash--there are no craft police. SU does have policies, but as you say, you aren't breaking any of those. People do not understand the policy. I'm happy to hear that you are doing what makes you happy and that you are able to put your family first.

Wendy you are the best upline a team can have. Many of us (team or not) are looking at you and seeing you find your joy again and it's refreshing to see. Those that can't see it, aren't really looking for it. Love your creativity and love your face lady!

As a creative person one is always looking to branch out into new ideas. Recently I've become more drawn to using ink more whether it be backgrounds or embellishments etc. I'm definitely moving to a more artistic botanical look. I've been buying Stampin Up products for years but recently donated lots of supplies. I wish they would do more mixed media products. As Tin Holtz always says " you do you".

Yay for you! I’m personally not surprised you are branching out to other companies. I used to be a SU demonstrator and I have personally found their products do not excite me anymore. I have a lot of old product I don’t have any desire to use. Our tastes change. I believe SU used to be stricter about using other companies products. There are at least three KZitemrs I used to watch including Catherine Pooler, who left SU because they wanted to branch out. I wish you the best and will continue to watch your videos when I can. ❤

I’m so sorry that you have gotten negative feedback from subscribers. I just think that we’re living in a time when the phenomenon known as the internet, encourages people to be judgmental and feel entitled to control other people’s lives. Your priorities are spot on. Your time with your daughter is paramount. Believe me, the years will pass very quickly so enjoy your time with her now. Your husband also needs you. You are blessed to have someone to care about. You should not have to explain your decision to put your family first to anybody. You do not owe anyone anything. If people don’t like what you are doing, they don’t have to watch. I am brand new to your channel, and am looking forward to watching your videos. Good luck with your redefined understanding of success!

Wendy, you are an amazing woman of God and so mindful that words make or break relationships, even those that are on social media or even your own team members. Thank you for guarding your words and following Ephesians 4 as you addressed this issue. I applaud you for being transparent and willing to do what is right; God first, family and then work. I genuinely appreciated your video. Great job! Blessings to you in the future.
