I am still not maternal and always felt bad about it but my child who is now 8 tells me often that I am the best and its just the best feeling to see her happy and that I am clearly good enough. You are a good person so If you decide to have children I am sure you will do great. Its a rewarding feeling to care for children

My first baby was born in May. I don’t know if I would say I feel accomplished every day, but I feel SO fulfilled. I didn’t know if I wanted kids, but I would say of the top 100 happiest moments of my life, at least 50 of them have happened in the last 3 months. Here’s the thing about having a child- it’s really easy to imagine the downsides even not having a child. Like not sleeping, being puked on, not having free time. All of that is easily imaginable. But it’s truly impossible to imagine the love you will feel for your baby until you have that baby. I honestly had no clue that love like this was possible. I have amazing family, friends, and husband that I love dearly… but this is unmatched. And no matter how hard I try, I can’t explain it, the only way to really understand is to experience it. That’s the hard part of deciding to have kids… the downsides are easy to imagine but the upsides are impossible. Sometimes I think about if I had decided not to have children and it gives me the chills honestly… I can’t imagine not having this baby now that I have her.

I am the mom of a 26 yr old boy/man...when he was little, I felt that if he had a fun, interesting, meaningful day, I had accomplished something. I would leave the house a disaster and head to the beach for the day....Do I remember the messy house now? No, but I do remember the beach days with all the moms and kids, Yes! They were epic! My son and his friends still talk about their childhoods...With wonderful memories of all the adventures we had....a bit of advice for moms with young kids...Don't stress about the things that don't really matter.... If you ever have to choose between making a memory (fun day out) or making dinner/cleaning ect ....Make the memory!!! I promise you will not regret your choice, xo

Its amazing to hear you thinking in this track of a mother being accomplished and I hope you and others tell that to mother's as often as possible because I think a lot of mother's struggle with feeling accomplished because you spend all day and night feeding and cleaning and putting to sleep the babies, and the laundry dishes meals other kids work and husband sit unattended- and it's very easy to feel like you got 'nothing' done.

People lie how hard it is but its so worth it you feel so accomplished that you did something so amazing with your life shaping a little person’s world! I wasn’t maternal until my sister had her 3rd baby and the i got all the baby feels! Me and my hubby just went for it and was like if it happens it happens and we never regret it as he is just the most amazing special cheeky 15 month old boy that we made. I think most moms go to bed feeling like they’re failures. It’s never ending so you don’t feel accomplished. Like ever. I raised my son by myself after a divorce. I worked 2 jobs and finished my degrees. I cried a lot. Thank God for my parents. It’s completely okay to not want kids. It’s completely okay to want kids. It’s completely okay to not know if you want children or not. I love my son and he’s almost 22 now. I never wanted children but I’m happy he’s mine. It’s brave to be open about things. Women bully women all the time. Have a great week!

As a mom of two (3 and almost 6), I have to say you probably feel exhausted at the end of the day. BUT, at the same time its the greatest feeling. I felt so lucky, when I gave birth to my children and I suddenly felt instant love to a new person. Its a strange feeling. Now they’re older and sometimes they fight and I get annoyed at them for not listening, but a minute late they sot together and cuddle. Or they will come running towards you when you pick them up at school. To me, its one of the greatest feelings of all.

You'd be an awesome Mom, Amelia! The sense of wonder that you have for life would be great to pass along to a child/children. I always knew that I wanted kids, but my autoimmune issues have made me quite sick on a regular basis. Thankfully, I now have two stepdaughters (whom I met at ages 5 & 7, when I was 31) - they're wonderful and so excited/inquisitive about the world. I can't imagine how hard it would have been on my health to raise babies/toddlers as a full-time parent and I'm in awe of the people who do. In terms of a "sense of accomplishment" at the end of the day, parenting has made me more organized/detail oriented (which has helped in my career path too), but it's also come with a heightened sense of responsibility and therefore anxiety/overwhelm at times - so it's more like a "feeling that I've forgotten to do something important" at the end of the day haha. Despite stress and some difficult times balancing chronic pain & parenting with my job, I'm happier in life than ever before! There are so many different ways to approach parenting, and if you end up becoming one, your excitement for life and sunny approach will be a great asset! ☀️

I can relate to everything you’re saying. I didn’t want children, I didn’t have time for them. I was always the mean cousin. I thought newborn babies were ugly little things and never wanted to hold them. And then I “accidentally” fell pregnant at the age of 36 after being happily married to my uni sweetheart for years. I’m thankful to God He blessed me with my daughter (now 7). Since having her, I LOVE newborns. They smell so beautiful, their skin is so delicate silk soft, so precious 🥰 I don’t have the words but I love them! I still don’t think I’m maternal but Im glad I have a minnie-me. We go for girly dinners and afternoon teas. Go to the theatre a lot! Please don’t rule out children or at least 1! You won’t regret it! ❤

As a mom, you learn to celebrate the little wins. Sometimes you feel like wonder woman and you managed to achieve everything. Then other days you're just happy you made it to bed time. Its a roller-coaster but for me super rewarding 😅. They are also a lot more fun as they get older. My 10 y/o and 7y/o daughters give me life with their opinions and personalities. I enjoy it so much. I have a 1 year old boy, and my experience is that I’m so exhausted when I go to bed that my mind doesn’t even drift towards thinking I accomplished the day… rather I get a leetle bit anxious and stressed about having to do another day all over again as soon as baby wakes up. And there’s hundreds of things on my to-do list that I don’t get to do because I’m busy caring for my baby-toddler. I still love my baby and wouldn’t trade my role and situation for anything in the world!

It’s sad, but as a new mom (my baby is 3 months), no, I do not feel accomplished at the end of the day. I feel relieved that we all survived, and exhausted, and unfortunately like I’m letting my baby down. That’s probably partly because I’m being too hard on myself, but also because she’s had health issues since the day we brought her home from the hospital. But yeah, just when I think I’ve got a tiny bit of a handle on things, everything changes!

I love that Rice - Tilda is the best.... Easier to cook & super good in basmati-like one-pot preps. The brilliant thing is to understand how things are now - not when your moms were moms (when you ask them, their context for being a mom is definitely a LOT more different) - so, that you could get how things are when you become a mom today, (like right now, when you want to be one) - and then decide if you then can, and should and when to be one.

One thing I can tell you for sure about being a mom is that it's so completely different when it's your own baby. If you got that all this would make me so happy feeling when you held your friends baby times that by 100 or more and that's how you will feel when you have one of your own. When you look in their eyes and love them so much and see in their eyes that they love you even more nothing greater than that. There is nobody in this world that exists that will love you more than your own child and you will love nothing more and be willing to give your life for your baby.
