Discovering Korean hydrating toners was a game changer once I found my skin was dehydrated/sensitive as opposed to just dry. Once I tackled the dehydration I moved on to actives such as daily vitamin c (c-glow) and alternating Tretinoin with copper actives alongside stratia’s liquid gold to strengthen my skin barrier. I am also converted to Niod’s survival, my HG which has made such a different on my skin after using it daily for a couple of years now. Thanks for your teachings and try-ons! My skin has never looked better!

My own reasons for not doing Botox some would find equally weird: I am afraid that if I get it, I won't be able to cock my right eyebrow, which for me, is a personality trait, à la Spock. I then tell folks, well, if the world wasn't full of such baffling behavior, I wouldn't HAVE to cock my eyebrow at the antics. I guess I'll just have to settle for The Ordinary's Argireline Solution 10%, which I've seen GREAT results from. Let the cocking continue! (Wait... they didn't come out right...) ;-)

So a couple of years ago I watched a documentary on 3 women's lives in madagascar. It really deeply touched me in a way that tv usually can't. Ever since watching it I've been wondering if we are taking advantage or are we helping by buying products from madagascar. Every time I hear a review on the 1004 product I think about the harvesters. If you want to watch it, its now on KZitem and I can leave a link below. If you do decide to watch it, I'd love to hear what you think. On one hand I tell myself, we are helping bc we are providing work by purchasing the goods they harvest and on the other hand it feels like I'm taking advantage of them. The doc has nothing to do with skincare. It's just about 3 women living their lives, but it feels related. Anywho. Lmk if you are ok with me posting the KZitem link to the video. Hi my friend 💟 (I might as well write my essays every time? 😬) I’m still enjoying the first bottle of the Fresh cleansing treatment that I got because you recommended it (a long time ago). It’s funny that I didn’t catch that it wasn’t micellar based until many months into using it lol. I have one other saponin based cleanser from NIOD that I got randomly in a Beautylish Lucky Bag. It’s definitely an intense cleanse. In contrast, the Fresh is nice and easy. So what’s the verdict on the sunscreen after wearing it? I haven’t narrowed down which chemical filters consistently cause irritation for me, so I side eye homosalate and the like. 🤨 Re: current news. I can’t believe I’m living in this time. Two steps forward, one back? Feels like 2-3 back this time? Ughhhh ☮️💟🤗

I absolutely cannot believe what is happening. We are living in 2022 and not 1952, aren’t we? The worst part is that I really don’t know what to do. I see a lot of suggestions to vote, but do we the people NOT get a vote in this or did I miss something? (I will be happy if I’m wrong here) The Isntree seemed to work for me (I share that hesitation with homosalate, and still haven’t figured out why Shiseido’s oil-free didn’t work for me 🤔). However, I wasn’t fully prepared for how shiny it would be lol!! It’s one where I see the hype for some, but I would caution others…that is a high shine product for SURE! I’ve had that NIOD one recommended to me so many times - thanks for sharing the difference! Sounds like the Fresh is still more ideal for me, as I like that it’s super gentle

Soooo much to say…☺️ • 💯 % Eastern/Western mix is the golden formula • Could you explain how micellar water is controversial? Is it because it can be irritating when left on the skin? • Funny, I tried Skin1004 years ago when NOBODY knew anything about centella. I just heard a random one sentence comment somewhere that it was good for acne, and I was willing to try anything! Fast forward, I’ll probably go back to this brand after I finish my 63 other centella products.😂 • Just wondering… what if you refrigerate your Fresh cleansing water?🤔 I suspect that would wake you up as your first AM step. I’m going to try it! • Amen to fermentation! I try to find the fermented version of every ingredient, if available. • Yes to the Botox issue. I actually was introduced to it by my doctor probably 15+ years ago for some health issues (its original intent). Never had heard of it. It was recommended and approved by my insurance! (crazy, I know!). And then I found out about all the needles and botulism and out of pocket cost and every 3 month upkeep, and I’m like, are you all nuts??? 🤣 So funny how much more we know about it now… (and I figured out my health through other ways). • I agree with basic moisturizers, but unfortunately my temper tantrum skin doesn’t like most drugstore versions, and not a ton of J/K beauty, either. I have had good luck with European brands such as Avene and Bioderma. They’re expensive for what they are, but there’s something about that 300-year-old heavily-researched mineral spring water that my skin loves. I’m always looking to get the best value, so with my oily skin I’m excited to try a sleeper product, Bioderma Atoderm Intensive Gel Crème 16.9oz/$24.99 (Amazon currently has $3.75 coupon). I’m on the opposite end of you - oily, acne, AND sensitive. As you know, oily/acne products are stronger, but sensitive usually means thicker. So I think I’ve found a zebra with a sensitive GEL cream. 🙌 What little reviews I could find seem to support this. • Aging to me is not wrinkles, since even babies have dynamic wrinkles (moving your face). What we’re trying to avoid/slow down/eliminate are: static wrinkles (there when your face is at rest), discolored/pigmented/blotchy skin (sun damage, etc), permanent damage (acne scars, etc), sagging (loss of collagen & elastin), and irregular texture and appearance (dry, dull, unhealthy, etc). I try to control what I can and embrace successfully living another year. Do I want to look better? Of course. Could I look worse? Absolutely. It’s all about the HEALTH and FUNCTION. I believe if I take care of those things, the aesthetics will follow. (If you’re still awake and got to the end😆) 💕

Micellar water got such a bad rap because it contains leave-on surfactants. The thing is: that word is a bit more nuanced than just “it cleanses stuff” haha. Many moisturizers also contain surfactants! I still think it was wise of Fresh to go in this direction though as it addresses that concern for anyone who wants to avoid surfactants, and still IS more gentle in its mechanism. Yes yes yes, I am actually quite flustered with the fears around aging (I probably make this obvious lol). Healthy skin doesn’t simply mean young-looking skin, and focusing entirely on that loses so much of the value inherent in having a good routine. That’s not to mention that my psych training kicks in and I worry about the negative self-imagery associated with obsessing over aging. It happens, and that’s a good thing. But we can also age gracefully, with our skin glowing and well-maintained! 💕

2 жыл бұрын
@@AliceintheRabbitHole Yes please!!! 😘❤ I would like to have a side to side comparison in terms of texture and skin benefits. Honestly, both look dewy. However, some say BOJ is more matte compared to isntree. Im hesitant on BOJ because of the coconut oil extract. I've been using isntree for a long time and i love their texture with their proven spf. However, it's a bit too dewy for my liking (Tho my friends and colleagues like the glass skin look which is not the look im going for 🌝) If isntree is less dewy, it might be better. Maybe its because of the hyaluronic acid that is making it dewy. That being said, ive bought into the hype of BOJ and ordered it. Ive been wanting to try it because i look through the ingredients list and found coconut oil 😅.... So it's left lingering here. Probably to skin test it first. Other heart to heart opinion on korean skincare, i find their products quite gimmicky in the sense that they love the hydration but it can be easily formulated with cheap ingredients. Unlike retinol or vit c that is proven, their products always seem safe. Probably should venture out on more skin research like NIOD that actually is trying to be innovative and finding the new skincare ingredient like copper peptide.. Etc. The traditional ingredients seems nice but it lacks research. Korean products reviews is another thing that irks me because its too one sided (maybe the k culture train is causing everyone to think every product is good) Tbh, kbeauty industry is relying too much on safe hydrating ingredients which i can easily get half the price. They can churn out products because of the kculture hype and they know people will buy it internationally and locally because of celebrities and all that jazz (ahem.. Marketing) . So its profit to them. All in all, cute packaging but meh ingredients. Imo. That being said, their sunscreen is great. Other products is not my cup of tea. 😂 Getting back to topic 😅 The main concern is which sunscreen between BOJ and isntree has better skin better benefits and SPF? Is BOJ more matte according to the reviews? Plus, BOJ has too much fragrance (coconut oil) and probiotics (which imo, not proven compared to proven ingredients in isntree)...

You are so right about aging. I’ve always thought this. Even with Botox, fillers and all that at some point, while it may reduce wrinkles , plump up stuff, in the long run it just makes a lot of people look weird. Our bone structure changes. Unless you are one of the lucky people who is affected less by this it is just going to end up looking strange if you keep doing more. I guess getting a little face lift and a little filler, Botox might do the trick at first. But people don’t know when to stop. We age. So many people end up looking like muppets and not any younger. Just weird.
