You didn't embarrass yourself, but as a guy who is a former AMA Expert license holder (250cc Motocross) and did a little bit of singles flat track, if you ever get a chance to ride one again, try going wider, if you get out in the looser dirt it's easier to slide them and to get a feel for how the scooters slide....once you start sliding in the loose stuff you can take that feel and translate it into a bit more sliding in the groove..

Thanks steve but did you see the end of the video, camera at my back? I was getting in back'n there. With your back ground you can understand how a skinny groove works and off line this track was like riding baby-powder on a basketball court.

Watching On Any Sunday, I still can't believe that Mert Lawell could take his cast iron engine Harley 700cc engine with such extreme precision and win almost every race (unless the engine exploded, which it did, every few races).

So awesome! Would love to see some more stats on the bikes! What was the Kawi anyhow? This could be such an awesome sport if the big brands would start making some factory bikes that you could go out and race with!

That track is much closer to asphalt then it is "dirt". It's so dry slick and black a dirt car would be squalling the tires and fighting for grip. Granted it's ruff as a cob, but it's sure not a nice moist tacky clay that you can dig some cleats into. Mark looked good out there for someone who doesn't make his living going in ovals.

I love flat track well I love all racing but it's time to have a air fence all the way around the track. These guys are gladiators and someone dies every year being waded by a metal fence or concrete barrier. I had a friend nearly torn in half at playfair racetrack in 1995 Spokane WA. The track no longer exists but the point is when you do fly off at 125 mph I would rather hit a air fence than a steal fence or concrete barrier. I know they use some hay bales and a tiny bit of air fence but common AMA.

+Tom Smith. I agree. The riders risk death, permanent paralysis, permanent brain injury, torn organs, broken bones, torn ligaments & tendons, lacerations, bruises etc every time they race. Even an air fence won't save them from injuries. It could probably reduce them. I'd like to see this type of racing get more coverage than it currently does. I'd like to see a helicopter with multiple cameras flying around on the inside recording the riders with High Definition video for future playback. I want to see HD slow motion of the riders. This type of racing happens to fast to see the details unique to this sport.

@@TraceyAllen you are the latest commenter on the air fence thing.. I have never hit an air fence just hay bales and they hurt.. I don't know anyone who has taken a point blank into an air fence... But I did see a bike get it's forks torn off as an air fence gobbled up the bike like a hydroplane on water flips and then gets sucked in.. And yes it's a no brainer hitting a bag of air has to be better than a concrete wall... Watch the 2015 last mile at Indy as a bike gets gobbled up in the air fence as the rider is thrown off over the wall but he is alright... Never the less can we come up with a better air fence that will act like straw bales but cushion more without sucking your bike in to it to a dead stop throwing the rider over the guard rail? I know this to be a huge order.... Maybe something like air bags stabilized with a layer of really soft foam inside the airbags like a shock absorber effect with air doing most of the impact compression as it does now.. Just saying. Hell did I just describe big foam pillows to land in

Do they have an air cooled class? They should mandate that it be air cooled engines only. The whole idea of using a high tech 120 horsepower V-Twin, with fuel injection, just ruins the vintage part of this amazing sport.

750 cc.. The Ducati and Ktm's are running de-tuned engines so they are within the rulebook guidelines set by AMA pro racing or now AFT
