I’m half Dutch, my grandfather was from Zutfen. When the blue skies came out in your video it reminded me of him saying that it was going to clear up if there was enough blue to make a Dutchman a pair of pants🤣. Thanks for showing this area. I need to go someday.

I took a two week river cruise thru Europe. We went through over 100 locks on the trip. Halfway through the trip all the traffic people went on strike for 24 hours meaning the locks were closed. So, we rushed thru some locks and then they had buses take us back to our planned tours while our boat kept trying to go along. They did a pretty good job. I went with Circle Tours. They did a good job, it was what we wanted. Not fancy, but you had the same group and guide everyday (except for the cities that required local guides). But our guide was quite nice and since we had done the 3 days before and after trip, he took us to his favorite restaurants and taught us how to use the subway. We had a great time with lots of 'free' time to explore. I did learn that the best way to get an omelet the way you wanted was to get the cheese and other toppings from the self-serve area, get a made to order omelet and then put your sausage/cheese or whatever inside at the table :)

Glad to see you guys are spending more time in Europe. A few tips: - Weather in the Netherlands/Amsterdam is a Catch-22. They have a number of overcast rainy days. But, that keeps the crowds down. Anytime the forecast for the Netherlands indicates sun and warmth, Europeans come by train and cheap flights from far and wide and it's a mad house. When you see it, you'll long for the rainy days. - During a walking tour of Amsterdam, look for the cool, affordable umbrellas. You'll want to have it for any trip to Northern Europe. - I've decided that the Dutch speak English better than anyone :). - Fireworks in Amsterdam for New Years Eve is world Class! - April and May flowers are stunning. Highly recommended. - Check out the history of the 80-years War. I think that will bring your tour to life. - Other recommended castles: Neuschwanstein (Bavaria), Castle Frankenstein outside of Frankfurt, Loire River chateaux. - Americans are impressed with the ancient history of the Netherlands....till they get to Italy and Greece where they realize it's at least 1,500 years older than the Netherland sites...then they see the sights in Turkey and the Middle East - even older. My next trip to Europe with be in Sep/Oct to Berlin for the Festival of Lights.

Wonderful video. Isn’t it amazing how such a small kitchen can prepare a gorgeous array of dishes almost all at once? Consider getting better rainwear for travel. Eddie Bauer has good variety.

Thanks for sharing the trip! Mixed thoughts on a river cruise, now that I've seen a little. I like the daily excursions but then if you get bad weather, I'd feel obligated to go because it's pre-paid. (Is there better weather in early fall?) The vibe is relaxed. Not sure about some of the food. But I see burgers are an option.

This adventure was a bit more last-minute and hastily planned than most others on our schedule, so we didn’t realize that we apparently got to enjoy the rainy season in the Netherlands and Belgium, ha ha… but you definitely feel like you want to take every single excursion, regardless of weather. I think we only ended up skipping one excursion the entire cruise… whew!! :P

It's a great way to get a peek at some cities we would have never dreamed of visiting! This particular itinerary at the time of year we sailed typically runs around $3,000 per person for a seven-day loop, so it's quite a shock when compared to traditional ocean cruises that we were used to... but it does include all excursions, adult beverages with meals and during daily happy hour, and a Chef's Table experience. Definitely an interesting cruise, and we'd love to do more when the budget allows!! :P

If you record a wrap up video can you compare the cost of this cruise including and not including airfare to other cruises you have taken?
@parodeejay

We're definitely planning aa wrap-up video, and we can certainly compare cruise prices. Airfare, not so much, as we haven't done much international flying to compare, and that could vary sooooo much. But cruise pricing, yes indeed!! :D
