It’s best to have a child when the parents are in a stable relationship. I don’t understand why raising a child in a coparenting relationship is normalized. It’s not the best. Let’s normalize getting married before having children. Say what u will, but I think this is a more stable……. secure situation, than having a child out of wedlock. And knowing Amara’s boyfriend with his controlling antics idk, if this was a good circumstance for her or the baby. It could’ve gotten nasty. @Mazani Cruz you must be a single parent. There’s nothing wrong with what she said or how she said it. Everyone’s goal should be to have a family, not to just have children. A couple should aim to create a foundation before having children. That way the kids won’t be raised in a co-parenting situation. People need to be more mindful of their actions and be more responsible sexually, not normalize broken homes and “healthy co-parenting”. Don’t create a child with someone who you don’t have a solid bond with and married to. Simple.
@STackinDre

No. It doesn't work that way. Unfortunately, your desire to replicate some idea of family that you felt that you missed usually backfires. You have to do your own healing first, so that you're actually searching for a partner based off of what you need and a partner rather than what society says you should have in a partner. So if your primary drive is to give your children a two-parent household, you're going to end up picking somebody who presents those things to you but it comes at a high cost. @@nikki5674 I agree. I understand both sides. Amara need's to be free to live her life and Her Mother need's to allow her to Grow Up. Even though Amara is in her 30's it's like she is still very youthful in age and behavior. Sometimes their interaction's reminds me of a Teenage Daughter with her Mother. I'm from the Carribbean and I get it. Alot of times Caribbean parents don't know when to let their children be Adults. It's hard to seperate from them and live you're own life. I feel Amara still has issues Adulting, Her Mother knows this and as a result is very overprotective of her.

For those that may be confused about the timing of this clip and her announcement, that's how it's done. They tape the show in advance and can't talk about anything that will give the show away before it airs. She was finally able to say it publicly.

I get it. since I’m on both sides of this conversation, I’m a daughter and a mom but now that I’m seeing it from my mom’s point of you it’s not that she’s disappointed she’s afraid. Afraid her daughter is going to go through the same struggles, even though she has more money than she does the emotional struggle to raise your beautiful child by yourself is hard.

Stability is whats important and being a single mom makes things harder. Its a two person job period. Just because it can be done by one person dosent mean it should. There isnt a single mom alive that wishes she didnt have a partner to help. The only single moms who say that can't get or keep a man.

This scene irritated me so much because it is clear she has ZERO boundaries with her mother. Her mother feels entitled to Amara success and life decisions. The fact that Amara felt like she would LOSE her mother because she was pregnant was very telling of how toxic their relationship is.

Her Mother was right about needing a stable partner. However, even if Amara was being pursued by a wealthy, good, emotionally mature man who was going to marry her and they raise the child as a family her Mother would not be happy about that either. Her Mother has said on other occasions that she expects to reap the rewards for sacrificing for Amara i.e. she wants her to stay single and focused on career. Her Mother wants to keep Amara and Amara's money to herself.

I disagree. Her mother just doesn't want Amara to to fail in the same way that she did. I know it comes off a certain way but the moms thought process is closer to the idea that the mom sacrificed so that tomorrow would have a better life and the number one thing she wants is for Amara to have a better life. Anything short of Amara achieving her dream is a failure and it wasn't worth the sacrifice. Low key, she's saying I could have aborted you. I didn't abort you, I sacrifice my life for you, and you are not about to be out here doing dumb shit.
@EdwinaLTV

@@ineedhoez I understand she don't want her daughter to fail. But Amara mom did what she had to do to raised Amara and like she said she did her part and she should be happy. Amara is aware of her mom sacrifice but it is Amara life not her mom. That is the problem with some mom that "sacrifice script" we all do; I did give up somethings and sacrifice to at some point but never did I regret doing it for my kids and my kids turn out darn good. Kids or no kids Amara would accomplish what she needs to or want to do in her life. God timing is right not man. Sending lots of love and blessings to Amara and her family and you guys that read this message.

@Queen Charli Bee true but iwe all have choices. Most women are single mothers because they had a baby in a unstable or non-long term relationship. People just have babies by someone without even discussing about the relationship itself and seeing if y’all wanna be committed to ONLY each other for life. People will know the man has no intention of long term commitment/ marriage and still have a baby ..

People are clearly misunderstanding when Amaras mom said “You’re on your own” when you have a baby as a mom and dad you can not raise the baby alone with only two people let alone 1 person. You’ll disconnect from each other and you absolutely need breaks from taking care of your baby because it is so hard, I haven’t even had a baby and I know it’s incredibly hard and strenuous on a relationship.

Of course her mother has a right to let her know how she feels but, Amara is the only one who can make final decisions that will effect her life and, if she decides to have a child, it is her decision with whom she wants to be the dad, not moms or, anybody else.💞 Bless Her and, her family.

I understood how her mom felt about Amara getting pregnant without being in a stable relationship, however, I don’t think Amara has to consult with her mother about having a baby. I think that’s where her mom overdid it. I’m sure Amara doesn’t want her baby in an unstable home but the way Amara is now is not the same as her mother was back then. Even if her mom is not happy with the outcome of Amarás situation, she should support her emotionally.
