For real. Seeing some of this stuff I can't help but think that Australian opal is often over priced and over rated outside of, say, their jemiest black opals.

Last year at Pueblo I found a tiny rough Ethiopian opal with a dendrite and it is stunning. Had no idea that was even a thing! That's so cool they are finding so many in theirs!

I’m so happy I went through the trouble to purchase me some spencer opal over her in Europe Had to wait over 2months for it and the customs was a nightmare..ended up paying even more then parcel for it because of customs..but after seeing this video I’m happy I went through the mess to get these amazing Spencer Opals

Why such complicated customs for a bunch of rocks? I understand customs regulation for food and plants, but stones? Makes no sense.

Thank you for this video. I own several what I know as Spencer Opals. The folks I bought them from were an older couple who went to Spencer mines at least once a year for at least a decade. It was wonderful to watch this interview. I had been hearing about the folks at Spencer mines since my friends were very excited about them and the mine. I have been subscribed to your channel since I retired and have time to explore you tube. Thanks for all that I’ve been able to learn from you. This is the icing on the cake. Look forward to much more.

Regarding unstable hydrophane material, Pulitzer Opal, another youtuber, seems to have found a way to impregnate it with a resin to truly stabilize it.

I think they are fossilized bones, and the marrow part is opalized, like squids or other shallow marine creatures in Australia. I think they all happened during few of the massive asteroid hits. The recipe was perfect and can never be remade again. I have some fossils but not real opals
