@lincoin Dickerson Gave a very good tip for anyone wanting a heavy duty outlet. You could just add a standard metal outlet box and then make a pigtail with 12/2 or 14/2 wire.

Hearing someone say that wood is still crazy expensive when I was spending over a $100 per sheet on 1/2" osb back in 2020-21. It was like 8 bucks a sheet before the pandemic. And right now it's hovering around 12.

Ya. This video is pretty old. Building materials were still "crazy expensive" at that point. Thanks for the comment!

Nice. I may took inspiration. One variation I'm thinking of is a 'general' switch on the front outlet - I don't like to leave the chargers on when there is no batteries to charge. Here in Europe simple wall outlets are modular, I can make a switch-USB-Schuko combo on the same space.

My large charging station is attached to the wall with hinges so I can access the back to organize cables when I add or rearrange chargers. In behind is a couple of power bars to accommodate all the plugs. The front is a flat panel made from pegboard so I can attach the chargers with zip ties.

Excellent. I would make sure the USB plugs are powerful enough to charge modern equipment. I would also add a wireless charging pad on top. Maybe even countersink it so it is flush.

Just wondering how you plugged everything in. Seems you only had two plug spaces in that outlet but you had three items to plug in. The two chargers and the added outlet with usb chargers…

Haha. I knew someone would ask that. I used a short "y" extension cord for the chargers. Then the added outlet used the other one. Here is a link if your interested. www.amazon.com/dp/B072MG1D8V/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_apa_gl_i_6JAR02GBZR1SC4AJ6NPX?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=ml2&tag=howidothing0b-20

I like this a lot!! I guess ur OCD and u just wanted it all same or to all set out be flush?? But I don't get covering up the outlet and yet putting another one in!!?? Why not just leave a hole RT where the outlet is mount it with the outlet hole RT over it! Just USEEE THE OUTLET THAT'S ALREADY THERE THAT U ALREADY HAVE!!?? JUST PLUG UR SHIT IN TO THE EXISTING OUTLET!!?? And or also get an outlet extension!? Turn the 2 plug into a 4/6 plug!? Do ur BLD around the plug extension...I've seen some pretty darned nice ones!!! Or just instead of ur other new outlet just drill 2 holes! Plug a plug bar with the lights feature added them I got a bar plug but also have have lights if u want them need them! I would also make a station big enough to add drill holsters! I just got thru making 8 nice pvc drill holsters! Working on my station plans!? Trying to figure out which one I want need but also which one size etc will fit my areas!? For me I want a big station where I can have my chargers my batts my drills holsters...also hang like my screwdrivers pliers etc... as I like most things I use or need grab quickly to all be in one spot!! I am watching ones like this to see if there is any ideal that I may want to incorporate into my plans...😊

Get after it! Thanks for watching and the comments. As I commented above, just using a metal outlet box with a standard outlet and heavy duty pigtail might be a nice upgrade.

I like it a lot. My only complaint is that the base doesn't lock very well and can angle occasionally. I'm sure there is a way to tighten it but I haven't looked at it too hard yet.

Why not, just get a standard metal box, metal face plate and wire it up?

My walls are completely covered with other stuff. I don't need to get to this as often as the other things, so it's in a lower priority section of my wall. Thanks for the great question!
