Lately, I've been eagerly awaiting the appearance of cans of Dinty Moore and champagne staged in the cabin galley. It's a pretty funny running gag that makes me laugh everytime.
@cjbubeck

I notice lately that they usually do not say the product name "Dinty Moore", and I'm wondering if KZitem leaned on them for (in their view) appearing to "advertise" the product. I also watch like a hawk for the inevitable can of DM, now usually sitting quietly inside a cabinet or drawer. I actually bough a can of DM last week.
@nameRICHARD

@@cjbubeck I wondered why the Capt never says mentions it any more too, but its usually tucked away somewhere for the camera to spot. I wish the Capt would open a can one day because I live in Australia and have never seen the stuff before and I'm curious to see whats actually in the can. It could be dog food for all I know!

Great video as always, very informative. The Pearson 424 and 365 are sisterships. They also made a center cockpit version of the 424 which is a little ungainly in the looks department. Bill Shaw also designed a Pearson 367 which was the same design with a cutter rig and deeper keel. The 424 and 365 are windward challenged...the 367 solved this due to the bite of the deeper keel. I've sailed on the 365 and 424, comfortable and seaworthy. The mini tub is to wash your clothes! Pearson really improved the joiner work by 1980! I would love to try the cutter version of the 365.

My wife and I started sailing together in 1976 on an Oday Mariner in Manhasset Bay, LI. A couple of years later we felt competent enough to bareboat charter with another couple in the BVI. That first boat was a Pearson 424 (sloop version) and it set a family tradition of sailing and chartering that continues to today. Your video brought back some pleasant memories. The 424 was in many ways a perfect cruising boat and your video showed why. Nicely done!

Pearson's early 1980s boats really notched up the interior quality, and they are solid, wholesome boats for the money. Compare this to a Morgan OI 41 ketch, and this beats the Morgan in every category: looks, performance, construction and finish quality - everything but price. But you get what you pay for.

Not sure what camera your using, if you can, switch ur focus to manual so that the camera doesn't decide what your focusing on and go out of focus so often. Nice saves with the editing but that camera had a mind of its own! Just make sure you don't forget to focus before each take. And make sure the distance from the camera to whatever your focusing on doesn't change too much when your panning during the take. Just a thought.

Great job but.... nothing on the motor or engine compartment? I would think that the engine compartment would be large since it sits under such a large cockpit. Easy access to pull out the engine for a complete overhaul if/when needed? We saw two batteries, anymore? How's the wiring and charging system look? Nothing said regarding electronics? Lots of talk always about a wood burner but nothing about a water maker. I know there is something to be said about the length of a video, but judging from all the comments and IMO your videos can not go to long, yes. But I must say without the masts and rigging set it's hard for me to fall in love with this girl, Captain. I am beginning to think that there is a correlation to the number of times the Dinty Moore cans show up and how much Capt. Q likes the boat we are being shown. This time I saw 2 cans! (and only one bottle of champagne) Does that translate as -very nice boat but room for improvement? That davit system is a drawback at that price point, IMO. Everything else is pretty spot on. I like a ketch. The layout is interesting- especially the two companionways Although you would want to ensure the centre one was closed when under way! Looks like all the room I would need or want.

A question for you Captain Q? Were you certain that when you filled that 400 gallon tank on that 41 foot boat you owned that it wasn't filling your bilge and overflowing your fuel tank? 400 gallons is ALOT. I have a Perkins 4108 they call it 55 h.p and only have a 35 gallon diesel tank. Most of my friends only use 6 gallons a weekend in the 40 ft' ers my friends say I'm overpowered? Is that even possible? Keep me off the rocks please! Lol I appreciate learning more about boats through Capital Q and Randay. Lol. Randy never said anything wrong and you guys are a hoot. I will have my Challenger 32 ft Sailboat splashed soon and looking good. I'm a 3 rd generation boat builder and have some real treasure's you all might like. My family is Rum Runner's and Captain of the High Seas. I should probably have my own show lol.
