I love Dance Gavin Dance from Tilian's high vocals to Jon Mess's False Cord-Vocal hybrids to Will Swan's Guitar Work. Matt Mingus Slays those drums, and without Tim Feerick's bass guitar work it wouldn't be the same.

It also is a form of progressive metal. An experimental type that mixes elements of Math Rock and Post-Hardcore Rock together. Math Rock is the Jazzy Vibe Your picking up, and Post-Hardcore is the bread and butter of all metal.

The lines between metalcore and post-hardcore are extremely blurry. Post-hardcore used to be related to a more moody punk sound, now its more of a mix between emo and metalcore. The biggest difference is the mood honestly, metalcore is way more aggressive and heavy, like Crystal Lake and As I Lay Dying, while Post-hardcore tends to be more melodic and personal. Dance Gavin Dance I don't think fully fits either. They use funk, pop, technical and progressive metals, hip hop, all in a huge cluster fuck of a sound thats entirely their own. We call it Swancore, named after the lead guitarist.

Unfortunately I think he’s mistaking the message behind the song/video. Not about taking the “bad people” and doing all that, more about they’re playing the role of the bad people and actually misleading the masses, selling lies and false faith. Basically what he said about the “bad” people he said himself that give religion a bad name. The ending of the video still confuses me though hah
@TannerJordan776
4 жыл бұрын
ontheradionow I think the idea of the end and the whole video is like that cult (I can’t remember which one) but they thought that if they killed themselves (which they did with the kool aid and like 80 people died)their souls would get picked up by the spaceship and take them to a higher place. I believe everything else you said is correct though.
@johnnykooks4096

Yeah I agree, I don’t really think this is trying to spread a message necessarily I think it’s just telling a story about a cult from the perspective of the cult leaders. Strawberry swisher pt. 3 however is pretty obviously a knock on religion

Ive been called a metal snob for this perspective but TRY and convince me otherwise: no matter what music moves you, metal can be appreciated by anyone if nothing else. The talent and skill it takes to pull off certain bars and riffs, and the depth of the lyrics. Anyone who calls it "noise" isnt really listening to the complexity of the music. Of course this depends on the song/band but I believe no matter what music you gravitate to, metal and its sub genres can be appreciated by anyone. It SHOULD be appreciated by anyone and is really underrated.
